+533 Whenever someone says "drugs," you never think of Advil or Ritalin or anything like that, you think of like marijuana or cocaine, amirite?

why would you say marijuana and cocaine together, coke is like actually really bad for you and weeds not that bad

[rolls her eyes] There is a 17% chance of addiction in those who start young (e.g. 14) and this is over half of all of marijuana users - whether they use it daily or occasionally. If it's daily or close to daily, up to 50% of those are addicted. Also, weed adversely affects your heart shortly after smoking, because it messes with your heart beat and causes palpitation and such. Not to mention that your lungs take a worse beating from weed than they do from tobacco. Plus, this is the drug in which they are unsure of the long-term consequences. So, please, don't say it's "not that bad." Just because there are worse things out there does NOT make it OK.

It makes people not ba a prick that feels better about themselves because they "educate" people on amirite. Weed isn't nearly as bad for someones lungs as tobacco, it all depends on what you use to smoke it. The materials, like paper, are what are causing the most damage to the body

Addiction is a very touchy subject, as anything can be addicting. Being on the computer, shopping, anything. Cannabis actually has a low risk of dependency; significantly lower than alcohol or tobacco. Smoking anything is bad for you, but the lung damage does not, in any way, result from the cannabis itself. You don't have to smoke it, though. You can just as easily cook with it or vaporize it. The thing about the heart beating is a pretty inane argument, as any semblence of physical activity affects your heartbeat. Are you trying to say that working out is bad, too? They may be unsure of the long-term effects, but nobody has ever died as a direct result of using it. All evidence generally points in the "it's harmless" direction. I see no reason that people shouldn't say that it's not bad. I will, in all confidence, state this: Cannabis is not bad.
