You can lie to yourself. It's called denial.

People lie to themselves every day. See, that's how I know this site is full of idiot kids; shit like this, that is *obviously* wrong, ends up voted positively. Glad I don't care enough to let this crap scare me about the future.

Haha that's funny, it's not necessarily the idiot kids, nor the smart kids, I'm sure there are adults who would feel the same way, I don't agree and I'm fairly young

Yes you can. I think it's called cognitive dissonance. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cognitive_dissonance Okay, that's not exactly right, but still. You can lie to yourself, I've done it before.

Are you kidding? Humans are experts at denial.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

if you lie enough times you will start believing it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Pathological liars sometimes lie so much that they begin to believe it. Also, there's this thing called denial.

everyone who said 'No way' are obviously telling themselves that they're skinny.

I'm starting to think people vote YYA when posts just look like they make sense...it really defeats the purpose

unfortunately, i think you misunderstood my point here. of course you can lie to yourself; you can tell yourself that you're not affected by a break up with a boyfriend/girlfriend, but that doesn't make it any less true. deep down you're going to know you're fooling yourself and you won't be able to get over it until you accept that you've been lying to yourself to make you feel better about the situation that's the point i was going for here. sadly, most people took this literally XD

Some almost believe themselves LOL
