No, it's not a 'hoodie', it's a sweatshirt, amirite?

I always thought they were two different things. I thought it was only called a regular sweatshirt when it didn't have a hood, and vice versa.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I think that they're supposed to be the same thing. I never hear anyone say it in real life, but I read it in a post and it irked me.

Hoodys or hoodies are sweatshirts with hoods. It's not bloody rocket science. They're even labeled that way in stores- so you can protest all you want, but I don't think it's going to change.

I have never seen a "hoodie" section in a store. Nor have I seen a sweatshirt without a hood. Saying a "hooded sweatshirt" would be redundant.

I've seen plenty of sweatshirts without hoods. And saying "hooded sweatshirt" ISN'T redundant, because not all sweatshirts have hoods. There's this new invention called "google." Use it.

I prefer sweater

you're lame. who cares what it's called?
by Anonymous13 years ago
ok to be fair: 'round here "hoodie" has a feminine ring to it so i call mine sweatshirts [hooded sweatshirts if i feel like being specific] and leave hoodies to the girls. however, i own non-hooded sweatshirts, so they definitel exist too.

This is how I label them; a hoodie has a zipper, hooded sweater shirt just has a hood, sweatshirts have neither.
by Anonymous13 years ago
That's exactly how I label them.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I say sweatshirts have a zipper and hoodies don't...

Bunnyhug. ;P
by Anonymous13 years ago
sweatshirts> Have zippers
Bunnyhugs> You pull over your head
hoodies> are another word for the both of 'em.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Are you serious? "Bunnyhug" is actually a real thing?!
by Anonymous13 years ago
Hood = Hoodie; Zipper = Jacket; No Hood = Sweater. That's just what I think though :)
