+282 It would be torture to be unable to die, only think, alone for eternity, amirite?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I quite like thinking and don't like most people.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

This is eternity. Think of it as falling into an abyss, a never ending hole. You don't need to eat or drink, but you keep falling. All you have to yourself is the ability to think, that and endless time. your ability to decipher right and wrong, your consciousness, would eventually be stripped away in the flow of time without any form of human interaction. What reason is there to think when your thoughts and mind have been dulled by the passage of time. You won't be able to reach "enlightenment" and ooh learn quantum physics. You keep falling and soon you become nothing but an immobile doll that is neither dead nor shows responses. This is immortality.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Well that's not necessarily immortality - it's immortality in the shittiest situation - except perhaps torture.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Well, to be frank it depends upon the person and their experiences in life. For me, personally the idea of being alone with my thoughts for an eternity doesn't sound torturous. Maybe boring eventually, but not so bad.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Without external stimuli you would eventually fully evaluate every part of your consciousness and from that point fall into complete and torturous boredom, since, without stimuli, you would run out of unique thoughts.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Perhaps I would run out of stimuli. But there's always all of my memories. I just don't think that it would be torture, okay? Perhaps a load of other people would get bored and sad, but I'm fairly sure that I wouldn't. I know myself.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

perhaps your interpreting the post differently than me. I saw the fact that you could "only think" like you are locked in your own head, you can't see or hear or feel anything. In that case the only things you could think about would be your memories. Since there are a finite amount of your memories and you have an infinite amount of time you would inevitable run out of thoughts to have which regardless of who or even what you are would be considered torture by any definition.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Dont you think you would start doubting your memories? "did that really happen or am I just imagining it" Sooner or later you'll think that 1+1=3

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Look, I'm sure some of you couldn't handle that. My own personal opinion is that I would not find it that hard. And, as this is probably never going to happen, there is no way you can disagree with me on this one. I've never said it wouldn't be torture--for some people. But, I know that I wouldn't care. Now you can all stop trying to convince me that I would be in sheer agony, and you can all carry on voting down my comments which are about me not thinking I would find it torture. That's absolutely fine. Obviously all of you fine people who have probably never had a conversation with me before or know the slightest thing about me know me, my opinions and what I could or couldn't handle better than I do. Yep. Because that makes sense. Tl;dr: Please stop commenting on this post about how I theoretically would handle the situation, because I've never had a conversation with any of you in the thread before, so you don't know me--so how can you pretend to know what I could or couldn't handle. Ta.

to be alone after the world ends

by Anonymous 11 years ago

This is the exact situation in Johnny Got His Gun

by Anonymous 11 years ago

See, I like to be alone and think myself, but even so I think an eternity of any one thing would begin to become torture eventually.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

You don't have to be alone. It would suck having to watch all the people you love keep dying, but you would still have people to be with you. And if the earth was ever destroyed you'd just float around space for awhile and you're bound to end up on another planet eventually. Or get lucky and some aliens will find you. Captain Jack Harkness lives forever and he seems to manage pretty well.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

He turned into the Face of Boe.... I wouldn't want that to happen to me

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Technically that isn't official even though we all know it's true. But at least he evolved awesome telepathic powers, and that smoke stuff in his container is some kind of protection shield that he can put around other people.

I read a creepypasta sort of like that once. Here's the link, but it's scary weird shit so be warned. http://creepypasta.wikia.com/wiki/Gateway_of_the_Mind

thanks for the site, gonna enjoy not sleeping now

by Anonymous 11 years ago

That site is so addicting.

Midnight cookies, is this a true story, or an urban myth?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I think they're just made up stories meant to change your perception of things. "midnight cookies?"... mind if I use that haha

by Anonymous 11 years ago

When it comes to creepypasta, the main rule is "deemed fake until proven otherwise".

by Anonymous 11 years ago

well I read the spongebob one and that one seemed way too fake

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Wait, wait. How would he speak with God if "He's abandoned us?"

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I wouldn't think they're real. And even if there is some hint of truth (for example, they did actually conduct the experiment in which they severed the nerve connections), I can't imagine that was actually the outcome. Most people just write creepypasta for fun and to scare the ever loving shit out of the readers.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

That's better than oblivion. At least you're alive.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

alive..but to what extent?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

To the extent where you can think, which is to a greater extent than not being able to think... and I like being alive.

Id love to be immortal. Heres some pros and cons. 1:Yes it would suck but I'd meet new people and hopefully get over it 2: I could help humanity as a whole with years of work i could offer 3: I'd get to watch humanity grow. That itself is worth while 4: I could become a superhero when i got bored. 5: I could just walk into the white house and be like "Lolz go ahead and shoot" 6: I really really want to see humanity grow. 7: I dont really believe in an after life so this would be a better option in my eyes (I understand if you disagree) 8: Sure id lose a dick load of loved ones, out live any spouse, see many die, and probably turn into a hermit. However, I feel like i'd still enjoy myself overall and that dismal view isnt guaranteed. 9: Fuck I want to see where Humanity goes 10: Id live to see space travel. Like deep space travel 11: I could be kept in a cell forever- that would suck 12: Undoubtedly tests would be done on me, probably without consent. Also sucks 13: Maybe Medical science will make others Immortal somewhere in the future. 14:Maybe the world blows up and im left drifting through space. 15: maybe years of living causes me to go insane. 16: i kill peope due to insanity

by Anonymous 11 years ago

True, i took it as "EVERYONE YOU KNOW HAS DIED AND YOURE DEPRESSED" but eventually immortality in any state will leave you alone. Apocalypse, Ice age, Incarceration, Cement shoes and being thrown off a bridge... But yeah if the case was Id be alone from the get go, not worth it at all.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

If you are actually immortal, there is a 100% chance that you will eventually become permanently trapped somewhere. Think about it.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I wouldn't say 100 percent. I mean its just as likely as a mortal except for any kind of situation where the world ends or someone captures you. but if humanity is still around someone will find you eventually.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Well realistically the universe will end eventually, but if it were LITERALLY forever it would be 100% odds. Granted, at that point there would be a 100% chance of you getting out of the situation eventually, but it would kind of suck to be buried or something for a few billion years.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Be sweet to come up and see another species. Youd be like a oracle of a past civilization. Also youd be like the Prothean AI in mass effect 3. God i want to be immortal

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Would be fun. Even if you were dead and just thought, it would entertaining at least.
