+551 It's likely that millions of wizards secretly use Avada Kedavra to kill some annoying bug. amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Mosquitoes. "Hoshit! I missed!"

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Thats definitely not possible. I feel like the Ministry would keep track of that.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ah, but that's the question: Is it still illegal if they're killing a mosquito or fly?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well they fail at controlling and tackling issues. They're good at manipulating and decieving, but they leave the dirty work to underage wizards still in wizard high school. Ministry=fail.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

But is it still illegal if it's just a bug? In GOF Fake - Moody said that using it on a human would land you in Azkaban. So I don't think killing bugs would be illegal. And the Ministry would be too "busy" to worry about bugs being killed anyway.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I see, you bring up a good point.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

wizards of the world should unite a force to destroy wasps. they don't make honey, they're just jerks.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Personally, I would petrify the bug and then subject it to a crueler death than Avada Kedavra

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They probably use other spells like the Stupify or Reducto.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Mad Eye did to show the class the Unfogivable Curses, but he didn't do it secretly, obviously.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No they would get sent to Azkaban, thats an unforgivable curse. That would be like using a gun to kill bugs in our context: wasteful, illegal, and DANGEROUS if something goes wrong.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The law says that it's illegal to use it on humans.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Why then, did nothing happen to Moody (or, impostor Moody) when he killed those spiders?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm only guessing, but maybe it's cause the school is protected by Dumbledore. Nobody can get in or out by teleporting (I know it's not the right word, but I forget it) and it's hidden to humans so what's going on inside is probably hidden to the ministry. Just a guess

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Apparating. And the Ministry can still trace illegal curses from Hogwarts. Moody only killed a bug, the law says you can't use it on humans.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They would probably not use Avada Kedavra ... it's not illegal to use it on bugs, but it's still very dark magic, and they could use other spells/curses instead ... Stupefy, maybe?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Impervio?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'd just freaking set it on fire. Watch the little sucker burn!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

In our world, it's like pulling out an M16 instead just swatting the darn thing. (Most) Muggles are rational enough not to use something like a machine gun on a mosquito (especially since they might miss!). Can't we agree that (most) wizards should be logical enough not to use the Killing Curse on measly little bugs?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What about expeleamus XP

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No. Because in case you haven't noticed, bugs don't have wands...so, since expeliarmus is a disarming spell, it would do NOTHING. Read the books, and pay attention this time.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

@397604 (PinkUnicorn): *expelliarmus. ;D

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Sorry, I knew I spelled it wrong.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

im loving how we can have a whole convo about harry potter and no one asks questions xD

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Is killing a bug with Avada Kedavra enough to make a Horcrux?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I guess that's also asking whether or not killing any kind of living creature is enough to split your soul up... If it is, there is no human that has a complete, whole soul. Although, I doubt it. Dumbledore tells Harry that his soul is "whole and entirely [his] own." Right? Harry's undoubtedly killed bugs in his lifetime. So I think we should all be okay with killing bugs.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Totally agreed. Otherwise, Voldemort could have immortality without killing as many people :P

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I feel like they'll have their own little spells and such that work for things like that. Again, Stupefy and Reducto would work.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

There probably are plenty of other spells. And of course, to each his own when it comes to preferred ways of killing those stupid bugs--but I still think there might be some wizards that would use it without really knowing any better. Or if it was like, a giant, poisonous thing. Just strike it dead. I mean, I'd personally be a bit too terrified to enjoy watching it suffer...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

bassically what ever they use to attack is gone. Like if it can bite it no longer has teeth or if its poison its poison goes away. I have a logic behind that spell :P and the manipulation spell SERGIO!!!! Allthough thats just for laughs :-)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well they'd still bug you....they'd still be able to fly around and annoy you. So it wouldn't serve much purpose.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

lawl you win XP. That actually makes perfect sense. I like it because of the over use of it in the chamber of secrets book :) and i love how it sounds. What spell would you use by the way.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Haha yeah. Except he over-uses it way more in Order of the Pheonix. I'd probably use Stupefy then resort to the Muggle way of a shoe :P

by Anonymous 13 years ago

"Avada Kedavra!" *dead bug* "Ew...Wingardium Leviosa!" *floats into trash and/or toilet* ...if only we were all wizards...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I loe how this has turned into a big debate :) Great post, by the way.
