You really should; you might be suprised how often it works. I remember one time right after I graduated, I ran into a guy I crushed on my whole last year at a party, and I was a bit tipsy, so I just blurted "MAN, I had the biggest crush on you in high school"... and he said something like "well why didn't you say anything?"... we ended up dating for a bit. =)

I have a crush the size of Montana on this guy, and all of my friends and half the school know it, and I'm still scared to talk to him. :/

What's the worst that can happen... that thing you worry so much about actually coming true? Even if he says no, at least you don't have to spend all your time wondering. Also, life is short sometimes; you never know if you'll get another chance to say the things you want to say. =) Good luck!
