+735 I don't know about you, but I sure didn't learn those things when I was in 5th grade, or any time in elementary school (Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader). amirite?

I personally think that all the kids on that show are told the answers prior to the show so they don't embarrass themselves. I think the entire show is a scam to make America look stupid.

They are all actors/actresses, actually. So yes, they are told the answers so they look smart and pretend like they are 5th graders who know all that random crap the show asks.

I saw once on there that they asked where the duodenum was located in the human body. I'm a biology major, and I didn't even know where it was. (It's the first third of the small intestine, btw.)

The kids on the show are all practically geniuses and/or in gifted programs and the point of the show is to see if you are smarter than them, smarter than a fifth grader is just catchier that smarter than are you smarter than a smart kid and i have seen them get some answers wrong

the reason why most people on the show don't know the answers is because the kids are part of the school system where they undergo intense testing from the no child left behind program, so instead of learning how to be a critical thinker, they learn facts that can be put on a multiple choice test. The things those 5th graders are learning will not help them in life at all. Knowing what who wrote a certain obscure poem about geese from the 1800s isn't going to help them in the same way that knowing how to construct a good paragraph will. America's public school system has some major flaws unfortunately. :(

I've heard they get a slideshow of the answers before the show. I've seen them get really simple things wrong though. D;

That show definately doesn't use questions elementary age students would know. One time I was watching the show and a question came up about a topic I had just learned in 11th Grade AP American History
