What was the point of California voting on Proposition 8 if they're just going to overturn it, amirite?
by Anonymous13 years ago
Not true. It could still be reinstated at the Supreme Court, if they choose to take the case.

Yeah, I honestly thought we had a chance of getting it legal. Once one state does it, it should've had the domino effect all across america

It's technically not legal, especially for an attorney general to overturn an amendment that people voted on so...

what ever happened to Civil Unions? They seemed like the perfect compromise.

Because you don't want to ask the person you love to a "Civil Union."
You wanna ask them to marry you.

America. A democracy until liberals don't like how the people voted.
by Anonymous13 years ago
apparently we don't live in a democracy after all.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Because civil rights cannot be put up to a vote. I couldn't vote away your freedom of speech, even if the majority wanted to. The US is a CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC, not a "democracy"; there is not one single nation that is purely democratic.
