+369 California ruled Proposition 8 unconstitutional today. One of the greatest landmarks in recent history to date. amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What was proposition 8? Sorry I just would like to know hha

by Anonymous 13 years ago

<3 love this. awesome evening.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It was a ban on gay marriage in California which as of tonight is gone :')

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It was the Proposition in California passed in 2008 declaring marriage between man and women. Therefore banning gays from being able to marry in California. The LDS church was at the front of the campaign, pumping over $22 million into it to get it passed. One of the saddest days in California.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Fuck yeah! Great news! :D

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I started crying when I found out about this.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Doesn't mean the battle is over yet, its getting an appeal. So there still wont be any happily wed same sex couples for awhile. So keep up the support! (:

by Anonymous 13 years ago

proud to be a californian tonight(: equal rights for everyone :D

by Anonymous 13 years ago

they already allow gay marriages in MA

by Anonymous 13 years ago

the people who pushed for this are so gay...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Haha, I think I'm the only one who got the joke.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No, you're just the only one immature enough to laugh at it

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Haha, no need to get so angry. I just had a little chuckle, and didn't vote the comment down because I'm not so over sensitive like other people.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's awesome, I didn't vote it down either.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well this sucks.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well this is gay. Just shows how California keeps on screwing up.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

seriously, marriage was intended for one man and one woman not two of the same..

by Anonymous 13 years ago

if god gave us free will then anyone should be able to marry who they want and you should be aloud to defy the bible.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

But marriage isn't marriage if it isn't between a man and a woman... Go make up some gay ceremony for them?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

you can defy it if you wish, but keep in mind that in first Corinthians, it says that homosexuals are unrighteous and will not inherit the Kingdom of God, also look up Leviticus 18:22 and Romans 1:26-27. if you need more, go on http://www.gotquestions.org/gay-marriage.html

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Separation of church and state.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Touché

by Anonymous 13 years ago

and O_0 was saying that God gave us the free will to marry whoever we want and i was explaining why gay marriage is wrong according to the Bible.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't mean to hurt any feelings or anything, but it's ridiculous that this was deemed this way since the voters of California actually didn't want it this way.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Rights are not supposed to be voted on.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It shouldn't have to be a right since this is basically redefining the definition of a family as well. It was never meant to be this way. And this will be my last message wether you respond or not because fights over the internet are hardly worth it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

whether*

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The definition of a family has been redefined many times throughout the years. Just a few decades ago, a single parent with their child would have been considered unacceptable. Also, the dictionary definition of a family is "a group of individuals living under one roof and usually under one head". Nothing has really changed, except in the eyes of bigots. And I find it slightly amusing that after you wrote that you will not comment again, you did so.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

haha I will give you that-I had to correct my grammar error, and by justifying that correction, I seem to be replying again. I've had this same fight way too many times, and it is tiring me.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Personally, I believe marriage should be between man and woman. I am, however, glad this was passed. Although I personally don't believe it to be right, it is entirely unconstitutional to ban someone from a way of life. It is NOT our place to tell them they cannot be married, just because it's what we believe.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I respect and thank you for being completely mature and stating your beliefs eloquently instead of people like the jackass who just said, "well this is gay".

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's nice that someone can retain their opinion, but still see what's unconstitutional and what isn't. (:

by Anonymous 13 years ago

well... it's not so much a "landmark" as a historical event...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If God didn't want this to happen, then he wouldn't have let it happen. Prejudice is a sin too. For all you religious...people out there suck on this, "Judge not, and ye shall not be judged."-Luke 6,37. the Bible's as confusing as a mofo. If you ask me, its a broad as the Constitution, with more nursery rhymes.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ok, now that's just not right saying if God didn't want this to happen he wouldn't have let it happen. God allows many things to happen that he doesn't like. We were given free will, but if you're a Christian you still believe that he is sovereign. I'm sure god didn't want the Holocaust to happen, but he allowed it to happen.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Are you really saying that God doesn't interfere? How about the Tower of Babel? Or how about the Great Flood? A little rusty on your Bible stories?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What I'm trying to say is that God lets things happen because they need to happen. Without the Holocaust, people wouldn't believe the evils of this world, they wouldn't understand the reality of the world they are living in. Same thing with 911 and all other events. Without 911, America would not pull itself together and work as one through their troubles, the government would not be under scrutiny for the things they do, and so on. Things happen for a reason, both the good, and the bad.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ok I definitely wasn't saying that God doesn't interfere. Did you not catch the part where I said God is soereign? And yeah, definitely not rusty on my Bible stories. And yes, that does make some sense although not applicable to everything. Everything does happen for a reason, and I don't know what this reason is though, but perhaps that's the beauty of God-you don't have to know his final plan. (And check this out silveralpaca123-here's a Bible story) The story of Sodom and Gomorrah shows how homosexuality is a sin - as well as a passage in revelations telling who will be tossed into the fiery lake, among those being the sexually immoral. Now who needs to brush up?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

And that is exactly why you cant just follow SOME commandments, sexual immorality is as wrong as anything else

by Anonymous 13 years ago

exactly - sometimes it's just too much pressure, isn't it?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yea and that is why there is repentance - noone is exempt from sin, and god doesn't expect us to be perfect

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Since you don't know his final plan, then how do you know that this whole situation is not a test of some sort? How do you know that God isn't just testing his "believers" to see who pick and choose what things of his word they want to thrust into other's faces. James 4 verse 12 is about judging others. Not only mentally, but lawfully too. People can't just make a law judging others based on their sexual preference. So who knows, this might be a test for you as well as everyone else.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

But I do know his plan for us and that he does condemn sexuality, it isn't my right to judge them, if I had a gay friend I'd be against what he does, but I wouldn't hate him as a human

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You probably wouldn't even have a gay friend because you're too high up on your pedestal. Nobody can know God's plan, or else he wouldn't be God...you would.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

and now you are the one judging.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm sorry muffinman, I do not believe god would send us here aimlessly, he does have a plan for us. And about the gay friend, I Guess its true I don't have an openly gay but I don't think I'm better than everyone else?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You may be missing our point supper4dinner. We aren't judging them, and we aren't saying that homosexuals are automatically terrible people. And it isn't our place to judge, but we don't have to support homosexuality.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I wasn't trying to force you to support homosexuality. I was just trying to get you to understand the different views on it. I do understand your point, I'm just a little stubborn.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh so I should be able to marry my dog then? Since marriage isn't between a man and a woman why not a man and a dolphin... Or a monkey, they're apparently very closely related.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I know, it shouldn't be marriage. They are redefining a family here with this. It wasn't meant to be this way.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Then if "marriage" is between a man and a woman, then just call it "Union" with a man/man, woman/woman.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Unless monkeys or dolphins suddenly become human, there is a distinct difference.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I do believe that your metaphor is referring to gays as dogs, dolphins, and monkeys. naughty, naughty.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No it was saying that marrying another man is equal to marrying anything else.. If its not a man and a woman its not marriage

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Definitions of "marriage" vary, and they all do not specify marriage as something that only occurs between a man and a woman. |:

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't think it's fair to say that if a person becomes gay, then they automatically lose the ability to be a human. To have human emotions and to have the same liberties as other humans. Ever heard of the unenumerated rights? Well the pursuit of happiness is one of them. And if getting married to someone of the same sex makes someone happy, then it is 100% constitutional.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm glad it was overturned. Who are YOU to stay someone should not be married. Rights are not to be voted on, otherwise they wouldn't be rights.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Marriage is soo Gay

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm all for it, but one of the greatest events in history? I don't think so.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Wait dosen't the bible also say that god accepts everyone. I mean if homo-sexuality makes you go to hell then the bible is wrong for that. God accepts them but not really? That like saying i like pie but only monday.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

He Loves all his children, gay or not, they just aren't doing the wrong thing. I god didn't accept gays, he wouldnt accept everyone who sinned, meaning everyone. And they aren't going to 'hell'.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

*if

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Sorryy *they just aren't doing the RIGHT thing Whoopies

by Anonymous 13 years ago

But he dosen't accept it? I really see no reason for gay people to be automatic sinners. I don't really think it should matter what your sexuallity is because if humans have been doing this for years then why are gay people hated at church. A person is a person and based on their actions besides sexuality their shouldnt be any problems with a gay person whos just as christian as anyone else to go to heaven.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Actually They aren't automatic sinners, technically you are homosexual if you have sex or whatever with the same gender, being attracted but not acting on it isn't being homosexual. So it isn't possible for an actual gay person to be just as Christian as anyone else, because if they're gay they have also being immoral. Sex outside of marriage is just as bad a sin as being gay and having sex. And 'gay' people; as in people attracted to the same gender, but haven't committed anything, are not hated, if you are actually gay, theres no point in been Christian because why follow a religion if you don't follow all of it?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That was complete bullshit. They never should of overturned this. The law was fine the way it was. If the law was going to be overturned, why the fuck did we even vote on it? The majority ruled that gay marriage should be banned, so it should stay banned.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

This is kylermcgee's boyfriend, he is sitting right next to me and he wants you to know thanks for all the posts but honestly he doesnt believe in god or the bible and is just happy that he can have a life where he can be happy with who he is, god or no god. And you guys can argue and argue but you cant hate someone for being happy. Gay=happy bytheway! ;)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It is imposible to follow a religion perfectly. You sinning basicaly makes that comment impossible to agree with. So if you are homo-sexual and you havent exactly had sex with the same gender you're not sinning? Just because it makes sense ill agree with you. Now my arguing with you seems stupid for the fact that what you are saying makes the bible a little easier to understand. Thanks =)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Repentance is to correct sin. Also I do not mean just sex, anything sexually immoral..

by Anonymous 13 years ago

some of you people are incredibly frustrating and stubborn as hell. =]

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I was thinking the exact same thing. D;

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I know thats why you won that argument. You actually helped me understand the bible more. And i know what repentence is XP. But still thanks.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Haha I'm actually surprised something sorta positive came out of an Internet debate :) I just hate the generalization of if your religious you must hate gays, which is false

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I actually hate being negative so i find something good out of the debate/argument and actually try to make friends =P I know exactly how you feel about the supposed 'christians' hating gay people.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

WOOOOO! LET'S THROW KINKY BACHELOR/BACHELORETTE PARTIES TO CELEBRATE!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Delightful. :D

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What ever happened to open mindedness. Grow up and respect people and accept them for who thEy are, not hide behind the shallow barrier of your own views.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You homo

by Anonymous 13 years ago

How dies that make me homo? Cause in educated enough to make a judgement on a person based on their personality and not their sexual preference? Gee, you're so right. Everyone shoul be just as ignorant as you. My bad.

by Anonymous 13 years ago
