Agreed.

I survive not lifting weights. Does that make me stronger?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Tell that to war amputees.

It doesn't always have to make you physically stronger

I hate when people don't get the fucking point of this saying. It's supposed to be motivational as in, "you've learned something and now you're wiser." Yet every time it's mentioned, at least one person will say, "HUR.. well not if it leaves you paralyzed or something hur hur!!" This quote really isn't that hard to understand. It's not about getting injured and not being physically strong anymore. FUCK.

I can sense some anger.

I think a more accurate statement would be "Whatever you survive has the potential to improve you." Obviously you are not always physically stronger (see above comments). As far as mental, motivational, or spiritual strengths go, I think they depend on the person. If you see your dad die of cancer, you could use that experience to motivate other cancer victims or you could become an alchoholic who hates his life. It is really up to them whether they benefit from it.

I survive not working out, and sitting on my ass all day. That doesn't make me stronger though.

Unless it leaves you paralyzed and brain dead.

I'm pretty sure it's "whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger". The way you worded it just sounds awkwarder.
