I before E except after C or when sounding like A as in neighbor or weigh and on weekends and holidays and all thoughout May and you'll always be wrong, no matter what you say!
by Anonymous13 years ago
Interesting. Oh, and you spelled "throughout" wrong.

The rule doesn't qualify if the "I" and "E" are in different syllables, such as "bEIng" and "effIcIEnt" (ef-fi-ci-ent).

I before E, except after C, if the sound is E
For example, the word Weird doesn't have an E sound, it's a ee-er sound.
