I only wear a little mascara sometimes and I have naturally long and thick eyelashes(my grandma used to ask me if I had mascara on when I was like 11) and nobody ever notices.

No, they actually mean natural looking make-up when they say that. You can look pretty with no make up on, yes. But natural looking makeup, which should always be in, helps define the best features of your face.
