Then everyone can go to uni and a degree will be less valuable.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It should be based on your intelligence or grades. Not how much money you have.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Not really, where I live there are two types of education, public and private. Public degrees are by far more valuable than most private universities degrees, because they're much more demanding. In fact, things like medicine can only be taught at public universities. If you happen to apply for a job and there is a public university graduate applying for that same job chances are they're going to get it. This is one of the few things I actually agree with the government of my country, there are a lot of really intelligent people that don't have the resources to pay for studies, and they shouldn't have to settle for bad jobs because of that.

Increased social mobility. It will mean that those who are best-suited for the job will receive the job.

In better economic times, I would agree. However, we're looking to cut the budget wherever possible and just can't afford it.

Look how well that's worked out for California...

Tulsa did it with their community college, provided that you live within the county and did at least 40 hours of community service per year for up to three years or 63 credit hours. Economy's fine there.

I don't think it should be free, but definitely a lot cheaper.

in an ideal world....

by Anonymous 12 years ago

While a do agree, I think we should put more money back in to the public education system first.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Where I am education is free. Don't need to worry about paying for College next year. Scotland is awesome!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

where? from the rich who have earned their money? money that you've done nothing to deserve? no, if you want to go to college but cant afford it then you better work your ass off in high school and get a scholarship, like the rest of the world. Nothing is free, get over yourself.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Most rich people didn't earn their money. Most were born into wealth.
