I'd bet a lot of YYA'ers here are posers. Not to call anyone out, but I have noticed that, as the social acceptance of nerds is rising, so is the number of people claiming the title without being close to as made of awesome as is required.

Someone who confesses and calls himself a nerd isn't exactly a "nerd". A nerd is someone who is called a nerd by other people, not one who's like "FUCK YEAH NERD AND PROUD LOL" without anyone even accusing him of being one. Just cause you spend your time playing video games, or like star wars, or read books or you're obsessed with Harry Potter, doesn't mean you're a nerd -___-

Well, nerd culture is relatively well defined by this point. With as much Doctor Who as I watch, Death Note as a I read, and coins as I collect, I don't really need someone to state the obvious for me.

i see we've come to the conclusion, that either the majority of people put themselves down because technically 'nerd' isn't supposed to be a positive thing to be called, or those who aren't nerds don't go on this website. if it's the first one, stop conforming, i don't think anyone's a nerd, we just like diferent things

Depends on what you'd call a "nerd". Most kids my age (13, 14) would probably consider me a nerd. I mean, I'm a girl and really, really love the Star Wars movies, Batman, Spider-Man, etc., etc...but if you're talking about, like, a math/addicted to good grades geek or something, than I wouldn't be one (considering, ya know, I flunked my last test...)
