There is/was no such thing as Soviet Russia. It was the USSR/Soviet Union, and then it became Russia, amirite?

As above, it was Russia waay before.

And if you want to get technical (and I know you do), it was still Russia while it was part of the USSR...it was officially the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, which became the Russian Federation after the USSR fell apart.
