+252 Illegal immigrants can be good; they do the jobs that lazy Americans don't want. amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah, they also suck the tax dollars out of the country. And in this economy, "lazy" Anericans would gladly take any job that pays money. And another thing: small businesses make up more than 70% percent of jobs in this country. It takes a helluva lot of hard work, time and not to mention money to create a business. How dare you call Americans "lazy."

In Colorado, a couple farmers conducted an experiment fairly recently. They put out an advertisement all over the place that they wanted some Americans (not Latinos) to come to their farm and do work. It would be a hard days work, but they would earn their money. They said they wanted to help struggling, unemployed Americans in this recession. Do you know how many people applied for the job? None. Not a single person was willing to sweat a little to earn their money. So, it's obvious that many, many Americans ARE lazy and WON'T take "any job that pays money." How many white people do you see landscaping, painting, doing construction? Not very many.

Woah, read my mind. I was just about to post that. People complain and complain that immigrants "steal jobs", yet they aren't willing to take these jobs themselves. Ridiculous.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Maybe they didn't want to be employed to people who discriminated?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I wasn't talking about white people, was I? I was talking about Americans, who can be of many races.

@919058 (ThatOneNut): Because mocking someone rather than continuing your argument doesn't make you look like a total jackass. Furthermore, you aren't looking at the big picture: Illegal immigrants have absolutely no right to be here. Why? Because they BROKE THE LAW, by entering America, um, illegally. Hence the term "ILLEGAL immigrant."

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I was pointing out her assumption that I was reffering to white people only when in fact I wasn't.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Who's assumption?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The person I was replying to. Obviously.

At the same time however many hardworking Americans have lost their jobs to illegal immigration because they can't work for $3.00 an hour - I'll try and find the article I read when I get home where and entire hotel let go of all of its employees in order to hire illegal immigrants that could work for less. Whether you care to admit it or not, illegal immigration does cost the average American worker to lose out on jobs.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Alas, that is what America is all about: Capitalism. It does not benefit the average citizen, but rather the very rich 1-5% of our people who own huge businesses, banks, etc. America's government, its corporations and businesses are all about making as much money as possible. That's why many jobs get outsourced to China, India, etc. Because they work harder for less pay and for more hours. It makes sense for the CEO of Walmart to hire Chinese people to do the textile work. My point is, whether you like immigration and outsourcing or not, whether you think Americans are lazy or not, don't point your finger at the foreigner for "taking" your job. Point it at the owner of the business for taking the opportunity away from you so he can make a profit.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

But it wouldn't be possible to take those jobs away if the illegal immigrants weren't here - hence where it becomes a problem. I have no fantasy notions the immigration is wrong - our country only exists due to immigration - Illegal immigration, well that I have a problem with.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Illegal immigration is wrong, treating them like it's entirely their fault is wrong as well. Their employers are just as guilty, if not more guilty, for the immigration problem in the US. The immigrants don't directly take the jobs from Americans

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Employers are guilty of giving them opportunities yes, but nobody kidnapped the illegal immigrants and dropped them over the border. They chose to come over here illegally - knowing full well it was illegal. So, no, placing fault at their feet is not wrong for they are at fault - they broke the immigration laws. Their employers broke laws as well and those employers are at fault for those laws, but you cannot remove the blame from the rightfully guilty. A mother is not guilty if her son becomes a serial killer- he committed murder, not she. Therefore he is guilty. We can't reassign and remove blame because it makes us feel better. Fact of the matter is, those jobs could not have been taken from legal citizens had illegal immigrants not come here *illegally*

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well, if you think about it from their perspective... A lot of these people have families that need to be taken care of. Or, they just want to make a better life for themselves. America is safer, and there are more stable jobs, etc. than Mexico. Can you blame them for wanting to chase the "American dream" when it's right next door? And yeah, it's pretty difficult for them to become citizens. Like soccerfan25 said down at the bottom, I think our government likes that it distracts us from bigger issues at home.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I never said they weren't to blame. There are two groups of people that are to blame in this issue. Some people forget that. Besides, those people would not come over illegally if they didn't know that they would be offered better jobs over here. Your serial killer metaphor doesn't make sense, since both sides are breaking the law.

inb4 a long, stupid, pointless immigration debate.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Okay, it REALLY bothers me when someone says Mexicans take the jobs lazy Americans don't want to do. I'm sure there are a lot of Americans who would take those jobs.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

And yet, when asked to, they don't.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They dont get the jobs because we don't want them, they get the jobs because they work for $2.00 an hour

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't care so much who does the job, what bothers me is that they remain illegal. Is it really that hard to become a citizen properly?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

it is

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Don't forget, they also provide something for us to complain about and distract us from the real problems like poverty and the economy.
