+677 Why do people duck when you say "heads up?", amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I know sometimes people do duck, and I don't understand that. But if someone is about to throw you something and they say "heads up!", it's kinda like "keep your head up so you'll see this and catch it." Maybe when they say heads up and they want you to duck, it's kind of being said sarcastically.

Most people say "heads up" as an alternative to "Look out". Most things that people yell "heads up" for cannot be caught.

(.): I just figured it out! When you give someone a "heads up", you're notifying them about something that is about to happen soon. So when you say "heads up", you're letting someone know that something's about to be thrown at them so they should get out of the way or be prepared to catch it. ahHA! :D
