People say having x-ray vision would be awesome, but it actually wouldn't. You wouldn't just see through someone's clothes, you would see through their flesh, and their bones, and their organs. Technically, if you truly have x-ray vision you would see right through them, and you would see right through everything behind them. If you had x-ray vision you wouldn't be able to see anything at all. ... amirite?

I apologize for the confusion. I wasn't talking about x-ray machines, but about the kind of fictional glasses used in comic books where the glasses only see through clothing. And how unrealistic that is.

I am not stealing jokes. There was literally a girl named "La-a Deravan". All you've found is a coincidence.

X-ray doesn't mean seeing through things, it's a type of ray. This particular ray doesn't travel through solid things. So "true" X-ray vision would mean seeing through clothing, flesh, soft objects, etc.

Yeah but still, you say that if you had those glasses you would see through "their flesh, and their bones, and their organs". But with X-ray you will see their bones, no matter if you have a machine or the fancy glasses.

Maybe you could focus it? Like how you can choose where to look. So you could choose the strength and turn it off at will. That would make it cool

Or maybe you'll just see through the first layer of something (ex: a person's shirt, sweater, a door, wall, etc)

This is why people say that they want *controllable* X-ray vision. Also, if it was that powerful, you would see space at least. Space isn't solid.
