+146 To all the people saying that this generations grandparents are gonna be ugly with tattoos and piercing and stetched ears? There are ways to get your ears normal size again, piercings ARE removable and tattoos are something you should want all your life. Amirite?

how do you get ears normal? once they are old and stretched its pretty much done for unless you want to spend money on plastic surgery (which most people either don't want or can't afford). piercings are NOT removable, the holes can close if it is a small enough hole but things like gauges in your ears will never close. tattoos are addicting (along with piercings) so even though the first one might have had a special meaning, the 30 others you got don't mean shit (in most cases). plus the tat will not look the same when your skin sags.

you act like its a drug or something, you dont know what people have been through. There are sooo many beautiful tattoos out there that are ART. http://fuckyeahtattoos.tumblr.com/

There's a load of proof supporting the claim that tattoos and piercings are addicting. It's a statement of fact, not a bash on choices. It has nothing to do with weather or not it is beautiful. There are plenty of tattoos that are absolutely wonderful works of art, but that wasn't the point being made.

Actually gauges can close up just as easy as tattoos, it just is a slightly longer process. Gauges come in sizes, the larger the number the smaller the piercing. So say you have size 0 gauges. that's about 3/4ths of an inch. You simply put in size 2 gauges, which will still fit, and leave them in for a week or 2. Then replace your size 2 with a size 4. One or two more weeks. Size 6. and so on until you get to size 18, which is a normal piercing size. They'll close up in a year or 2. Your ears are able to stretch and fit to size. How do you think they got gauged so largely? The way I just explained, but backwards. Your argument is invalid.

u can get tattoos removed. how many people really have them in places they're gonna b showing when they're that old, anyway, though? And lots of old people have saggy ears anyway.

Most tattoos are visible. Old people don't wander around in long pants and turtlenecks all year round.

Who gives a shit about the tattoo's? Those people did it for **themselves** and they shouldn't care about what other people think. I'm sure a lot of them know the consequences but they choose to accept it. When they're older, It's going to be the meaning of the tattoo that'll make it beautiful.

I just don't like gauges. Well, the really large ones are the ones that bother me. Like... why the fuck do you need a hole in your ear with a 3" diameter? That's just an ugly trend. Also when they are that big they can't go back to normal unless you get a sort of surgery.

Personally, I believe people plastered in tattoos desecrate their bodies. I'm not going to get involved, I don't care. Do what you want. Just don't expect me to date you, considering people who tend to get a lot of tattoos are often associated with hipsters or druggies. Not all of them are, but the amount that are are a rather overwhelming majority. And that said, getting tattoos isn't bad. I don't mind one or two, but it's when they're everywhere that it bothers me. Not that I do anything about it, I just tend to avoid them because I stereotype. Stretched ears are like the gateway to the hipster world. Soon you'll be wearing plaid, then taking up photography, then scooting yourself away from things because they're too "mainstream", then refusing to get a job... Again, it doesn't mean that once you get it it's what you are, but the two often coincide from my experience. Besides, stretched ears are very unattractive to me. To each their own, though. But it should be reminded that what you do as a teenager can have a great affect on you as an adult. My advice is just make sure it's what you REALLY want. Think it through, please. Don't do it because of friends or because of fashion.

Who knows what the definition of "ugly" or "pretty" will be in the future? And you're right, if you get a tatoo it should be something you want plastered on your body your entire life, but most people don't think that far ahead.

I am neither for tattoos nor am I against them; I feel I would maybe get one if I had something special but not just "oh I'm 18 and I can get one now!" like several people have done at my school. And plus I wouldn't put it somewhere you can see unless I'm wearing like a bathing suit or something, because if I'm trying to look professional or serious, I won't be able to with a tattoo. (Not saying for all cases.) As for the gauges...I don't understand that fashion. It is in my opinion, beyond ugly. I would never even consider gauging my ears, its hideous.

Just because you can do that doesn't mean you will, (you being whoever) so I think there will still be ugly grandparents.

There's also the fact that tattoos, piercings, and stretched ears are going to be much more common amongst old people once our generation reaches that age, as opposed to the comparatively "clean" old folks today.

It takes surgery to get gauged ears back to normal and it doesn't matter how much you like your tattoo when you get it, when you start wrinkling and it starts fading, it'll end up looking like a huge liver spot.
