+477 People without phobias don't understand how serious and uncontrollable the reaction is, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Im clasrtophobic and was forced on the elivator up the empire state building

by Anonymous 13 years ago

oh thats awful sorry. i'm emetaphobic (deathly afraid of vomit)...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(smilecuzlifeisgood):well then you are glad you were not there when i got off that elivator

by Anonymous 13 years ago

oh wow... yeah i feel bad for you...but as you said...glad i wasn't there! :P

by Anonymous 13 years ago

And here I was, thinking I was the only one... First grade does things, man...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Idk if I technically have a phobia or not-some people say I do but I'm not sure- but I am deathly terrified of snakes and always have been. Even looking at a picture or video of a snake and even some cartoon snakes makes me jump and my heart race so I just close my eyes.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's... what a phobia is. A bad one, at that.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I kind of thought so but I wasn't sure because even though I freak out inside I am able to control myself and I've never had to have like any therapy or anything for it lol.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Phobias can be very smal, and more often than not, don't require therapy.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ohh, well you have been rather helpful. Phobias aren't something I have ever looked into or even thought about, although I did Google the word for a fear of snakes. I don't remember it now lol, but anyways, I learn something new every day :D

my best friend had a phobia of cats. i dont understand it at all but she starts freaking out from even seeing a drawing of one. once she came to my house and saw my cats. wow, it was so bad but so funny.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

my friend has that too. we were walking in her neighborhood and she saw a cat inside of a house sitting by a window and she started sprinting the opposite way down the street even though it was inside.

Don't most people develop some sort of phobia (minor or major, rational or irrational) by 13? Me? Fear of home intruders (major)/being alone.(somewhat major.)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

when we moved to my new house, i couldnt sleep in the room they wet up for me, because every time i closed my eyes i was terrified there was someone standing next to me. And what do you know... i'm 13.... so i sleep in the den, which is like in the center of the house. i feel safer and less isolated, like i can't be cornered as easily.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

SAME THING! My room feels so trappy if something happens. If I sleep in the loft (it's closest to my parents room) I feel like I can escape if something happens.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh my gosh same here! XD Our den/"loft" is right next to my moms room and my brothers room. My brother would be useless though, he's pretty strong, but one time he slept through the fire alarm. But yes, because the daybed i sleep on is right next to the wall, so i can just roll off and go down the stairs. ^-^

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Fear of clowns, and no I'm not trying to be cool >.> I can't even go to McDonalds anymore

by Anonymous 13 years ago

me too:/ But my biggest fear is alligators! I have convinced myself that an alligator will kill me because I always dream about it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I have a major phobia of sharks. Every time I go to the beach I worry about some big ass shark eating me or a family member. Big open fields make nervous but it's pretty minor.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

How do you know if your phobia is legitimate or not? I'm not quite sure of mine..

by Anonymous 13 years ago

is a phobia just a fear or also a strong hatred?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Both.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I have a very minor claustraphobia, I'm not really scared, I just feel uncomfortable.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

that's not claustrophobia. everyone says they have ''phobias'' but phobias are serious and require therapy ad major help, if you get slightly uncomfortable in small spaces you don't have a phobia, if you see a tarantula and get frightened but get over it you don't have a phobia, if you are afraid of swimming in water where man eating, 14 foot long sharks live, you don't have a phobia. Those things are normal.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh okay. Thanks.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Same here. Like in a car with no open windows or an elevator. I keep checking if the air conditioning is on so I can relax.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I can't have people touch my neck. I'm literally paralyzed with fear if they do. Of course, if I tell them that, they can't keep thir hands off my neck. It sucks when I'm kissing people that don't know that... And I go a little crazy if in alone for a n extended period of time.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Hahahaha, I can't let people touch my neck either. I think it started when I was seven because my cousin always surprised me by pretending to strangle me...scarred for life.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's kind of how I am, except when people touch me anywhere. Even people brushing past me in the hallway at school gives me a panic attack. I just have such a terrible phobia of people touching me.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I KNOW my phobia is stupid and irrational (it's of bubbles) and everyone thinks it's realllly amusing. But every time I see one I feel sick to the stomach and my heart races.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i cant have anyone or anything touch or come close to my eyes cause when i was little plastic got stuck in my eye for like the longest 30 minutes of my life. i cant even wear contacts.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

oh gosh, thats horrible. :( i would be scarred, too.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

its fine.. it didnt hurt my vision then although my vision now is terrible. im just thankful nothing bad happened.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm incredibly afraid of hurting myself. My parents don't get it, and still try to make me do sports during the winter (in the summer I swim), when they don't get that I can't do sports because I'm incredibly afraid of getting hurt. But while I can't do things like play soccer, I can do high ropes things with ease, because I know i can't hurt myself.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I get what you mean. I'm kind of like that. In High Ropes, they take every precaution to make sure you dont get hurt, but in soccer, you can still get a ball smashed in your face.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Exactly! I'm just incredibly afraid of all that kinda stuff x( That and failure (I've never ever made a B, and I freak out if my grades get somewhat low), which makes the whole sports thing even harder.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Mine is going at high speeds and not being in total control of my movement. Especially cars, sleds/skiing, and boats. I've always had it but it was made a LOT worse by the fact that I hit a tree sledding almost a year ago and broke my back. Which sucks, cause I used to be a ski racer but now it scares me too much :

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm seriously afraid of balconies. As weird as that might sound. Or really, the edge of anything tall. I'm not afraid of heights, I can be in a tall building or on a roller coaster if I feel secure enough. But if you bring me near a balcony I freak.. Or even if I'm watching a movie and one of the characters is sitting/standing on or near the roof of a building, I literally can't watch it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah, me too! This summer, when we went to Disneyworld, I was more scared of the walk up to the huge water slide than the slide itself, cause the railings were low. And cliffs? No way! I won't look over a cliff ever!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't know if theres a word for it, but I have a major fear of earthquakes. If someone says the word my heart starts racing. Don't even get me started if someone keeps kicking my desk in school.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

...Ladybugs.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I used to be scared out of my mind of ladybugs.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Idk if I can count mine as a phobia since it's technically impossible, but I'm terrified of zombies, and I sometimes get scared that a zombie outbreak has happened.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I've got a mild phobia fear of going over 70 in a car. I was in a car crash once, and my cousin nearly went blind...Bad times.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i am terrified of needles which makes me scared of the dentist and the doctor because i feel like every time i go they are going to stick a needle in me and just the thought of it makes me cry. my family doesn't get it they just tell me to stop being a baby and suck it up and go but i can't it i just get so scared. i am literally crying writing this.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I get REALLY freaked out at the thought of having cottony things in my mouth, haha. My friend once took off her cotton gloves with her teeth, and I almost peed myself.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i'm surprised no one has said my phobia yet. i'm deathly terrified of spiders, and that is no exaggeration. seeing a picture of one, even cartoon, will give me nightmares for days on end. it's the worst.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Omg @907321 I was just about to say that! My best friend and I are both arachnaphobes(phobia of spiders) and if we so much as glimpse a small baby spider in the corner or something, all hell breaks loose!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I am afraid of failure so l don't try to do things right. It has gotten so bad now that l find myself unable to even study for exams and do assignments. Since l am in university now, its kinda ruining my life... :/

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I have a terrible fear of being contaminated. I'm one of the cleanest people you'll ever meet; showers every single day. And I also have this fear of drains...when I shower or wash my hands I stay as FAR away from the drain as I possibly can.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I take showers every single day..even if I stay home the whole day, and I am definitely not a germaphobe or anything.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Sone one i knew has a fear of bananas. I thought it was silly untill some one brought a banana for lunch. When she saw it, she ran out of the room, screaming and in tears.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I have a phobia of the sound of chewing. :( I stayed at my cousion's house over the summer, and I never ate one meal with them because of hoe disgustingly they chewed. My heart starts racing whenever someone digs through their purse, and I start to sweat when I see a package of gum.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's how I am! My dad always chews gum and I can't stand it. I usually leave the room, but sometimes I can't and I have like a break down.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I have a phobia of bridges, they freak the crap out of me I get nauseous and dizzy and it gets hard to breathe, sometimes I even cry. I also have a fear of choking on things and narrow spaces, but that's because i swallowed a quarter when I was younger. Unless it's food I can't swallow it, not even pills I'm still stuck on liquid medicine. I start to freak out if I almost swallow my gum. It sucks

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I have a slight phobia of carpenter bees...everyone always tells me that they're harmless and shit like that, but, god...my parents dragged me to a botanical garden a year ago, and I spent the whole time trying not to get a spazz attack from them. I even just looked them up on Google images, and I freaked out. It's the buzzing...most horrible noise ever. :(
