+307 If the people in this world stopped fighting and worked together, we'd probably be living on Mars by now. amirite?

I don't really know what point you're trying to make.

That all the conflicts of the world have slowed down our technology and advancement in it and without them we'd be able to get further. Instead of having nuclear warfare, we'd have space-ships to Mars or things of that concept.

Not to mention billions of dollars that were spent on warfare.

I agree and disagree with this I mean, there's truth in it, but there are also lots of things which were invented due to war (not that they were all good...well, maybe most of it) If there hadn't been a WOII, tampons would proably not have existed

If we went to Mars the EDF and Red Faction would be fighting, so unfortunately conflict will always exist.

This post assumes that all conflict ceases to exist so there wouldn't be conflict in this situation.

edf? red faction?

Sorry, nerd reference. Red Faction was a rebellious group who was fighting with Ultor, who was oppressing the miners. Earth Defence Force, the military of Earth, essentially, then went to Mars and overthrew Ultor and freed the miners. Then EDF turned around and started basically slaving the miners. This caused Red Faction to rebel again and send EDF back to Earth. Then the Red Faction became the military and government of Mars, ironically causing a terrorist organization called the Cultists to rebel and destroy the Teraformer, making the surface of Mars uninhabitable, forcing the Red Faction underground, then, through a series of events difficult to explain, Alex Mason awakened an alien race and had to destroy those as well. All the while Earth was ravaged by wars. Moral of the story is, people will always be fighting, even if you go to fucking Mars to escape conflict it will always exist. And even if you've killed everyone opposing you, aliens will come out of no where to create conflict. Also buy the Red Faction games, I heard the first and I know Gurillla (don't know if that's spelled right) is amazing. Avoid Armageddon because that's the shitiest game in the series, buy them.

A LARGE amount of the technologies we have today came from the military and/or warfare. For example Nutella was invented during WWII, because of a shortage of cocoa beans

Though this sounds more anti-anthropological, it's really all about where the money is spent. For example, the US defense budget in 2010 was $663.84 billion while the rough estimate of the total amount of money spent on science and technology related programs/projects in the United States (includes the following: DOE, NNSA, NASA, NIBIB, NIST, NSF, USGS, and spending on IT) is $149.7 billion... Take a moment to wrap your head around that thought, and imagine the kind of innovation and discovery that other $663.84 billion would spark. We're already developing technology and succeeding in creating breakthroughs at a pace that we almost can't keep up with. Just imagine...
