Older hardware was built to last while newer hardware is just bells and whistles designed to break in 3 years if you don't step on it, lose it, or drop it in the lake first. Amirite?

I'd rather have an iPhone 5 for 3 years than have a useless piece of crap for my entire life. At least if it breaks then you have an excuse to throw it away. Also, newer hardware usually becomes outdated before it breaks.
