+507 It's weird to think that in 2,000 years, people might look at our religions in the same way we look at the ancient Greek and Egyptian gods, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Dumbass, Christianity and Judaism have been around for alot longer than 2000 years. The Egyptions were active alot longer than 2000 years ago too. Do your research first.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

*sigh* There's no need for name calling. I know that, it just seems like more and more people are starting to reject the idea of 'God' (or at least organized religion), and in a few thousand years, people might look at our religions as silly myths in the same way that we look at the ancient Greek and Egyptian religions.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

So, you think in 2000 years humanity will just reject the idea of a greater being? No. As human beings, we seak a creater, a God. Christianity will sustain itself till the end of time.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't necessarily think that, but I do think that we MIGHT be done with organized religion by then. I understand that it's in our nature to seek a higher power, and as no proof can be offered as to whether one does/does not exist, I don't think the idea will ever go away. That's why in the post I specifically referenced our religion, not our God.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

WEll, you then are stupid. Its ENGRAVED in our brains to seak a higher being. There is significant proof that a god exist. There is no way that organized religion will simply be dropped. For example, The Pope. New Popes have been elected for over 2000 years. How would they just stop? They wouldn't. Conversation over.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm not getting into the God debate, but Popes have no power anymore, so that was a terrible example. And it really doesn't matter because neither of us will be alive to see whether I'm right. So bye, and tell your buddy God I say 'hi'.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Aethiests...when will they learn.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(John) : Theists... when will they learn (how to spell atheists)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Again, do your research. In England, you spell Aetheist with an 'E' in front of the 'A'

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Hm, you got me on that one. You did, however, put the e before the i, so technically it's still spelled wrong, but you spelled it right the second time so I'll just assume it was a typo. Anyways, I don't think either of us wants to go any further with this conversation, so let's just go our separate ways and believe what we want to believe and eventually die and finally figure out who's right.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

OP isn't saying that people won't believe in a god anymore but they probably won't have the exact same religions like really do you see anybody in today's society worshiping osiris and horus and amon-ra? that's the way it'll probably be in the future something new will have come up

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The Egyptian culture almost completely bled out and died for various reasons. The only thing preserved was what we could get from artifacts. Same with Greeks- they were destroyed (conquered) and much of their culture was lost. The chances of that happening to a culture now, not even mentioning it's one of the world's largest religions, is a lot lower.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

To the guy claiming that "In England, we spell the word "Aetheist"". No, we don't. Look in a dictionary. A real dictionary. In other words, do your research. Also, check "creator". Then try talking to an atheist about their beliefs without being dismissive and rude. Then learn to stop making crude and insulting over-generalisations like "Atheists, when will they learn" (there should also be a question mark there by the way). Conversation over.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

John, you're portraying Christians (or theists?) as very harsh and unwilling to see other people's views. Ali, we are not all like that

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That was a question, so use a question mark. Those Christians, when will they learn?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

There is not proof that God exists.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Please never have children

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Dude it's "seek" not "seak" fucking asshole. And I bet no one 2000 years ago believed that their religion would eventually crumble one day but look how zeus turned out, huh? We all see those Greek gods as silly old myths from thousands of years ago don't we?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

How do you explain Atheists dipshit?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

So, are you saying that Egyptians, Romans, and Greeks didn't believe in higher powers? What OP is saying is that in 2,000 years people might look at Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, and other current religions and think they're stupid. He's not saying there is no higher power or that, in a few years, people will stop believing in a higher power. He's saying that it will just be different. I mean, do you really think that the believers of what we now call "Greek Mythology" thought that in a thousand years everyone would say "That's ridiculous" and believe in something completely different?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Lol yeah totes

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Christianity has only been around for about 2010 years. That is not A LOT longer.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(Anonymous):actually, christianity has been around for a LOT longer than that, but wasn't given the name until after Christ's death.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Actually, Christianity didn't come in to being until the birth of Christ.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Actually, christianity didn't come in to being until the death of christ.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What did they call the teachings of Christ before he died then?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They called it "anity"

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Nothing. He was considered a prophet. Jesus himself was a Jew. It wasn't until he rose from the dead that everyone began to worship him.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh ok, I learned something new today

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Judaism is one of the oldest monotheist religion known to man. Christianity was implemented around 600 AD and it didn't truly spread and become a recognizable religion till 1100 AD. Sir, shut up and sit down, you are making religious people sound idiotic and rude.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I love seeing christfags get owned

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Do your fucking "research" research asshole. How are you saying that Christianity was founded even before Jesus died when it was founded fifty years after he and all his disciples died? Even then it went through MAJOR changes until about the fourth century when they started to print bibles en masse. Just imagine how what you believe in is VERY different from what actually happened if at all.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Dumbass, I just keep reading all your posts and you keep making yourself sound more stupid. Until fifty years after Jesus' death it was called plain Judaism. All his disciples and himself were Jews and believed not that he was the son, but simply a prophet of god. NOT divine. It was about the 70's when Paul decided that jesus was divine and indeed the son of god. He is the one who developed christianity.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

And you call HIM a dumbass. Anyone who has read a fraction of the New Testament knows that Jesus called himself the Son of God right about when he started preaching, roughly 30 years into his life.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'd very much like to see the book, chapter, and verse where Jesus claims, "I am the son of God."

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Too lazy to find every single place.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

But if there's so many than you could show me at least one couldn't you? After all your single objective is to spread gods word and convert all the nonbelievers right?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Luke 22:70 They all asked, "Are you then the Son of God?" He replied, "You are right in saying I am." NIV, if you care.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Idiot, in order to keep control the bible has been altered numerous times, and all the old parts showing that Jesus was not divine were either cut or altered.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

There is no single objective that Christians are trying to achieve other than converting others in the least offensive way possible. This gives no control, not even an illusion. Where the hell did those ideas come into your mind?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I've actually thought the same thing. I' m glad I'm not the only one :-)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah, that would be interesting. Like, Christianity started out as a very small sect of Judaism, and went on to become the biggest religion in the world today, taking over the Greek pantheism. So whose to say that another really small religion that may not have been invented yet won't take over?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

In 2000 years atheism will be the dominant force, methinks. It is quickly growing already.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Nah dude, Jedi is gonna take over

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That or Anthony Kuskianism.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Or the Flying Spaghetti Monster

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Reminds me of that South Park episode, where one of them goes into the future, and everyone is atheist, but they're all still fighting and arguing.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Holy fuckin shit I say this exact thing all the time! Thank you.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

hint: they will, because they are as stupid and irrational today as they were thousands of years ago

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I was just thinking the other day about how people may dig up our graves and study our bones like they did with the Egyptian pyramids.
