Why do guys have to put the toilet seat down? Why don't girls just put the toilet seat up, amirite?
by Anonymous13 years ago
I've never understood this either. Could someone who voted NW explain it to me perhaps?
by Anonymous13 years ago
because guys use the toilet seat when it's down AND when it's up(#2 and #1) but girls always have it down, so 3/4th of the time the seat should be down
by Anonymous13 years ago
common courtesy
by Anonymous13 years ago
@LewisL: it's just common courtesy. That's just how it is. No girl wants to have to sit on the disgusting part under the toilet seat.
by Anonymous13 years ago
well @474043 (Anonymous):
no guy wants to have to touch the toilet seat twice in one visit.
honestly is it that hard for a girl to just tap the seat so it would fall down?
by Anonymous13 years ago
Of course no girl wants to sit on the part below the toilet seat, what I'm saying is that she could simply lower the seat herself. I can see how it's common courtesy, but my (our) point is that it always seems to be men who are expected to carry out this courtesy.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Because it's you guys who have to put it up and put it down. If girls had to pee on that part of the toilet then it would be our common courtesy, but you are the one's with the penises, therefore you are the ones who need to pee beneath the toilet seat, therefore girls shouldn't have to move it FOR you. lazy asses.
by Anonymous13 years ago
ya and girls are the ones who have to pee on top of the seat, so why should we have to move it for them? lazy asses
by Anonymous13 years ago
Has anyone ever heard of chivalry?
by Anonymous13 years ago
The thing I hate about chivalry is that it only goes one way. Maybe I would like someone to open a door for me once in a while.
@474447 (funkysox789): So women shouldn't have to move it FOR men, but men should have to move it FOR women? Why doesn't everyone just put the toilet seat in whichever position they need it before they use it, it's not like it's hard.
by Anonymous13 years ago
^ That
by Anonymous12 years ago
Feminism killed Chivalry about 40 years ago. They shoulda held a funeral for it.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Oh sorry I kinda copied you. I didn't see your comment.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Well okay then what are you supposed to do if guys don't want to touch it and neither do girls?? There is nothing more annoying to a girl then leaving the toilet seat up.
by Anonymous13 years ago
In my house my dad has to put it down and up because its 4 girls then my dad...He is way out numbered.
by Anonymous13 years ago
thats the same with my house
by Anonymous13 years ago
equal rights = if you need it put it down if not keep it up
by Anonymous13 years ago
Unless you live with a feminist, it's just polite. And it's good to practice now before you are married.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Hopefully my wife will be capable and willing to handle herself in the bathroom.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Yea good luck with that
by Anonymous13 years ago
It's common courtesy, but instead of complaining, a woman should probably just look before she sits.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Well if you had better aim you wouldn't need it up in the first place.
by Anonymous13 years ago
when liquid collide it creates this thing called a slash. ever heard of it?
well anyway this "slash" pushes water and pee upwards when they connect, the pee and water than go on the seat.
do you really want to sit on that?
by Anonymous13 years ago
It's Splash, not Slash. If you want to be a smartass, spell the actual word.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Because guys aren't going to fall in a closed toilet! Do you even know how often this happened when I was little? Lol...
by Anonymous13 years ago
Plus, the toilet is used by both sexes for 2 things. And 3/4 of the time, the seat needs to be down for that. Guys only need the seat up for one bathroom activity.
by Anonymous13 years ago
The toilet seat AND lid should always be closed when not in use. That's why they're there. It's gross and sloppy looking to leave them open. That said, when I used to over a friend's house where only guys lived back in college, before people grew up and still lived in gross, shanty apartments, I put the seat back up. It's not adult to leave the seat up.
by Anonymous13 years ago
This is so stupid and sexist. I'm a girl and I totally agree with this. Why are guys the ones who always have to put the seat down but girls don't have to put it up?
by Anonymous13 years ago
guys dont sit on the rim when they take a shit so if the girl put the seat up, he would put it down to go, then put it back up when he's done
by Anonymous13 years ago
Everyone's wrong.
Proper bathroom etiquette says you actually keep the lid closed when the toilet isn't being used.
by Anonymous13 years ago
exactly. if you flush with the lid open, all the germs in the toilet get sprayed around the bathroom, and nobody wants that.
by Anonymous13 years ago
And these germs get on your toothbrush and you get the E. Coli in your mouth.
by Anonymous13 years ago
thats not the lid the post is talking about. its talking about the one you sit on
by Anonymous13 years ago
Thank you, Captain Obvious.
by Anonymous13 years ago
by putting the lid down with the hole in it germs still get everywhere. you 2 are talking about the top lid
by Anonymous13 years ago
Really? I had no idea what I was talking about before. Thank you for enlightening me.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Well, obviously, if you put the lid down, then you also put the seat down. What the "lid down" people mean is, both men and women should have to move something. That way, men get a chance to bitch too if they want to. Basically, put the lid down. Wanna do #2? Put the lid up, do it, put it down. Guys doing #1? Put lid and seat up, do it, put them down. Easy.
by Anonymous11 years ago
my toilet has a cover
so everyone has to put up and down the cover
by Anonymous13 years ago
its because guys have to take a crap sometimes too
by Anonymous13 years ago
Why does it matter if you touch the toilet seat or not? I mean, you wash your hands before you leave, right?
by Anonymous13 years ago
YOU are the guys. YOU take care of the girls, and YOU put the seat down. That is just the way it is and always has been. If you don't like it, then too bad. Stop being a lazy ass and put down the damn toilet seat. Stop complaining about germs because there is clearly a sink right next to you. If you're really that bullheaded and stubborn and feel it's your right to go on strike against toilet seats, then can you at least flush? I hate seeing your nasty ass foamy piss in the toilet.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Are you telling my you sit before looking? What if someone forgot to flush? That's kinda disgusting, and insane, you expect everything in this world to be exactly as you need it exactly when you need it.
by Anonymous11 years ago
... How about you quit being a lazy ass and put the toilet seat down before sitting?
by Anonymous10 years ago
You know, you could just pay attention and aim right. Then you wouldn't have put up the toilet seat. Stand there and hold your fucking penis like a man and stop pissing all over the seat like a five year old.
P.S There are always trees outside if you are that much of a pussy to not touch the fucking toilet seat.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Chivalry, my friend.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Why is this such a big deal? Guy's should just put the seat down, don't complain and there would never be a problem.
by Anonymous13 years ago
If you have a toddler in the house, then yes you should put it down. Because when I was little and not so observant, I would fall in... Not cool :/
Other than that though, I could care less so long as a guy wipes their freaking nasty piss of the rim of the seat!! Serioiusly! It's so disgusting when I have to wipe of YOUR pee before I go.
It's better if you flush with the lid down though because if you don't your poop particles can fly into the air and land on your toothbrush. Gross, right?
by Anonymous13 years ago
I am a female and can honestly say it does not bother me to have to put the seat down. I don't understand why guys seem to get blamed for leaving it in the "wrong" position, when clearly both guys and girls adjust the seat.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Because men poop sitting down.
Note: I agree that women shouldn't bitch so goddam much about this.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I'm a girl and I don't even care.
by Anonymous13 years ago
The toilet is naturaly down so put ot natural
by Anonymous13 years ago
Gee I don't know maybe so we don't fall in the toilet ball.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Gee, maybe you should look if the seat is down..
by Anonymous10 years ago
lets take turns :D

by Anonymous13 years ago
okay look! this is not going as far as manners, you cant demand equal rights to guys and expect us to look after you all the time as well, equal rights means you do things equal to guys, its like a frying pan in my friends house, the rule is that if YOU want to use it YOU clean it! so everyone only ends up using it and cleaning it once, the person using it before you leaves it dirty then you wash it use and leave it back on the stove dirty and no offence girls if you need guys to put the seat down so you dont fall in the toilet you've got bigger problems than having a wet ass, instead of just looking at the toilet when you walk in and i would imagin you would need to look at the toilet anyway so you know where your going instead of sitting in the bath or sink so you should look first anyway and us being lazy is just the same as you being lazy if we need it up we put it up if you need it down put it down if we need #2 we will put it down too so if anything its girls being stubborn
by Anonymous13 years ago
girls are the ones who are too stubborn to change and times ARE changing! get used to it!
by Anonymous13 years ago
No they aren't changing jackass.
by Anonymous11 years ago
I'm a guy and I always put it down. It just feels weird standing...
by Anonymous13 years ago
I can't believe that people CARE.....
by Anonymous13 years ago
I actually agree, and I'm a girl.
by Anonymous13 years ago
i cant believe this is so important to people
by Anonymous13 years ago
Putting the toilet seat down is one of many Etiquette practices like opening the door, pulling out the chair and throwing your coat over a water puddle for her. It is also the only etiquette practice that elisits rage as though there were a real reason other than preferential treatment.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Girls who voted NW are being bitches
by Anonymous12 years ago
If you lifted it up, then its YOUR job to put it down. Simple as that. If you made the mess, YOU clean it up. Simple as that. Don't like it? TOO BAD.
