Sorry to say this but facts define the truth but the truth is relative. So it is actually very possible for there to be opposing facts. I know that sounds stupid but its easy enough to understand. The only way to have one truth and one set of facts is for there to be one point of view. You just have to look at scientific study or religious beliefs.

I think the problem is that people are more often too liberal with the term 'fact'. A fact is something that meets the highest standard of science and cannot be disproved. If there are two 'truths' and thus two sets of 'fact's than both parties are not really representing either the truth or the fact. And then there's also the idea that some media outlets choose to call polls as 'fact'.
