Soldiers killing each other does not solve the world's problems, amirite?
by Anonymous13 years ago
Except for ending Nazism, slavery, Communism...
by Anonymous13 years ago
Independence from the British...
by Anonymous13 years ago
It is so much more complex than that
by Anonymous13 years ago
Why don't you learn more about what's actually going on before posting something like this.

We are a free country because of war. We ended slavery through war. We stopped Hitler through war. War has kept us a free, independent country. War has stopped dictators, and kept us free from Communism. So don't even say that war is useless.

Ending slavery was more of a by-product[Lincoln ended it in the south, only, and it eventually ended in the north], but other than that, you hit the nail on the head!
And they have the right to say "war is stupid" because of war.
by Anonymous13 years ago
And I have the right to disagree with them.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Very true!
by Anonymous13 years ago
I hate seeing people who protest war by saying it's "good" that soldiers are dying. They have the right to say it because of those soldiers.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Soldiers deserve respect. They're risking their lives fighting for their country, to keep it free and safe. For people to disrespect them is just awful.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Yes, you are completely right. My dad's been serving in the Air Force for 20+ years, so I feel very strongly about supporting soldiers, whether or not I support the war itself.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Exactly! If you don't back the war, back the soldiers.

Being a dumb 14yr old girl does?
by Anonymous13 years ago
Why would so many people agree with this.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Woah! People, it's a Calvin and Hobbes quote.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Maybe if this had a punch line, or was a more well-known quote, people would have got that. It is not wise to put something so controversial on this site, when everything will be discussed. Just saying
by Anonymous13 years ago
I don't mind discussion and everyone should have their own opinion, I just didn't expect this to even get on the homepage. I posted it at 2:00 in the morning.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Haha yeah, some of the most random posts make it there. I guess no one got that it was a quote a decided they needed to debate about it :/

Though you would think by now they would have a more logical non-violent way to solve problems. If an individual has issues with someone, they can not kill them. If the issue is serious, they take it to court and it is settled.
So two countries have issues with each other, its ok for them to kill as many enlisted citizens of the opposing country until one surrenders. I understand that the revolution, civil war and ww2 were very important to our history
I like to think that we have advanced a lot as humans, I feel we should be at that point of doing things reasonably through collaboration and discussion. we are one world and we are all the same people, we all want the same thing. War still is dividing us. Not trying to start and argument, just shooting some ideas out as I sit home and enjoy a bowl of homade chicken and noodles-while most of you are at school.

i think OP is right- while obviously war has been beneficial for some issues, the problem's still aren't solved, really; people still think a certain disrespectful way (unfair towards whatever group of people), and even more people must die everyday. war causes death, destruction, and frankly, is terrible for the economy.
if human beings claim to be so sophisticated then they should be able to solve their problems without murder.
