+521 If the US doesn't have one religion, then why does the Pledge of Alligance say "under God". It should say "under Canada". amirite?

Because America was originally a Godly nation.

That's quite stupid, so just because it's a "Godly" nation we should ignore other religions views? That's really stupid.

I don't believe I said any of that. And I would appreciate it if you wouldn't put words in my mouth. I was stating a fact, not an opinion.

Probably has something to do with most of the first people to come here were Puritans (people who wanted to reform England's Anglican Church for those of you who didn't pay attention in 8th grade history) and their children and grandchildren and THEIR grandchildren being of the same faith. Also, most of the immigrants to America came during the 1800's(or slightly before it) and America was founded in 1776.

I'm so saying that during the pledge today.

Been saying this now since I posted the above comment.

It's not that "under God" is for one particular God, it could be for any God you'd want it to.

Not everyone believes in a god, and some believe in multiple gods.

South of Canada. If U.S.A was under canada, then it Canada would be floating above us.

So... Under the sky?

I have no problem singing songs like "God Bless America" because they show good will towards America, but those particular words in the pledge honestly make me uncomfortable.

It's because no one knows/remembers Canada. "One nation, under...who? Must be that guy that looks like America"
