They make plenty of money through taxes, why shouldn’t they spend it on fancy cars? *sarcasm* Oh yeah, because they could spend it on something productive...it could help on high speed chases though.

Mustangs are faster for catching criminals. NY is poor as hell, but we got fast cars so they can, y'know, catch a criminal during a high-speed chase. I think my town has Chargers... edit: Plus, they're safer and more trustworthy than some other cars. If, for some reason, there's a crash, the person is safe.

From what i've seen, they're Chargers. I've yet to see a Mustang... Although that would be pretty awesome!
