+453 Optimists are just pessimists who have gotten over it. amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Pessimists are always presently surprised or correct.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Exactly. My mom refuses to believe and tries to force her optimism on me constantly.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I feel stupid. *Pleasantly Eye need two lern engrish.

Pessimism is not a deisease. Besides, pessimists have it better. We're never dissapointed. We're either pleasently surprised, or we get to say "I told you so"

so true. i hate people who are overly optimistic and happy ALL THE TIME. they just suppress everything and fake happiness, which is just going to catch up to them eventually. i prefer to be realistic about life, sometimes it sucks, but being pissed at the world makes the better times that much better.

Oh my gosh I know!!!! They drive me insane! My old best friend was like that and was always saying these insane things that she wanted to do (become a laywer, then a doctor, when she was getting low B's to F's) and I would tell her that she needs to pick the one that ment the most to her and she kept calling me a downer. >:( I'm always realistic and maybe that makes me a more serious person, but at least I have realistic expectations about life and everything around me. My mom's aways like: *huge smile* life's what you make of it! a good attitude will make everything better! you can never have enough friends! just be happy! wear more pink, and ever one will love you!! -_- I've had enough with optimists....

@536969 (Khana_Hatake): Being optimistic doesn't mean you're not a realist.... I've been in more messed up situations than any kid has had to go through and I still look at the positive aspects of it. I don't go around bitching about life and trying to bring others down. I am realistic and yet when a bad thing happens I look at the bright side. Also if you're down all the time, then you become depressed... That's how habits form you fools, you set your expectations high and your hopes low, that way you can still achieve, but you won't get crushed when you fail. That's what life's about Tell me the message you get from this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0G9vDKcdLg

I'm sick of 'the positive'. I'm also sick of the people who try and force positivity on me. I dont go around bitching about life and trying to bring other people down. I complain about the shit, and be supportive when the ones who listened to me let out their complaints. I am realistic, and in this world that makes me a pessimist because most people's lives suck. I know mine did. And for a while, it still will. And it's going to get better, but I'm not going to slap on a smile and tell everyone around me to be happier and force my voice up an octave like the ulta-optimists do. I laugh until I cry at least once a day and I have fun with my friends. I'm not some loser complaining about everything there is in the world. But I am depressed. And you dont just 'get' depressed. And the message I get from that video is a very sad one. That poor bird just commited suicide. He threw himself off a cliff in a last ditch effort to expierence pleasure before he died.

Okay well I'm sorry about being rude, but it seemed like you were enjoying complaining and there are a lot of people who do enjoy to complain to everyone and there is a better way to react to negative situations is what I am saying And that video is a happy video, nothing to be sad about, it's what people's life should be like. Doing what you love and risking your life for it. Because not a lot of people die happy. That Kiwi must have always wanted to fly and was willing to sacrifice anything to get to that point. That is my optimistic view of that situation

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think Kiwi should've gone sky diving or had a parachute or something.... Base jumping is awesome, but only with a parachute.... Nobody likes bloody splattered ground.... Yes, I know that there are people who do that, but that's not me. Thank you for apologizing. Sometimes I do that, but I complain to my self or my online journal or stuffed animals. Then nobody gets mad at you which would merely give you more things to comlain about

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah I agree with your second paragraph, as for the first one, I see it as a metaphor for people's life and about self sacrifice for something what you love. There are people who took it upon themselves to animate a different ending, but I don't think it has the same effect. The links are right there, you should check them out if you want to regain hope :p

I find my hope in Jesus, I dont really need cartoon birds, but thanks anyway

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah, I try to be a realist. I have a friend who's always upset about everything. I would be fine with that. The problem is she just WILL NOT shut up about it! She could use a little optimism.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I hate how optimists always think us pessimists or realists are annoying or "bringing them down," because quite frankly sometimes I just want to punch them and ask "So, what's the bright side of THAT?"

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The bright side is that I'm still alive :D

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(:D): Just to check, you're mocking optimists now, right?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The bright side is they'll have an excuse to kick your ass, then you'll have a bloody good reason to be a pessimist

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You can relax, you know, no need to be all defensive. I wasn't trying to offend anyone, and I'm sorry if I did.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I am relaxed! Why does everyone keep telling me that! Jk, I just like Anger Management a lot! And no need to apologize, I like to let my fury out and seeing as I can't do it in the real world, I do it at random people who disagree with me online :]

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Haha, it's okay, we all have those days. I'll just make sure not to "mess with" you again :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

So what are us realists?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

optimists AND pessimists in denial.
