In college, popularity and cliques go away, and everyone just becomes a person, amirite?

And you can schedule your classes whenever the hell you want, talk about freedom

Except most of your classes are required by your major and are only offered at certain times.

Lol, idealism! College is different from HS, yes, but popularity and cliques will follow you for the rest of your life, without a doubt. The best solution is to not give a shit.

Frats and sororities are huge cliques. Of course, the infestation level of these two groups depends on the school you attend.

are you greek? because you don't seem to have a very good grasp on how the system works and what it's like.

I was, when I was a foolish freshman. They get really clique-y, especially the sororities. Ever see a tri-pi hanging out with chi-omegas on a regular basis?
by Anonymous12 years ago
yes, since i'm a kappa delta and some of my best friends are in pi beta phi, theta phi alpha, and kappa kappa gamma. i live in my sorority's house and my roommate is best friends with a girl in kappa alpha theta. people whose only friends are in their sorority are actually idiots, and that's not how it is, at least at my school.

That's how it was at my college, and the reason I left Greek life; I guess everywhere's different, then.

I have friends in sororities, and it depends on the type and the school of course, but they say rush is basically a big personality test. The sororities judge everyone, and then pick the ones they like best. So, I would call it a personality contest. Also, in many universities, social circles are exclusively frats/sororities, and you can't go to certain parties or social events unless you're in one.

sororities choose their new members based on personality, level of involvement in high school or college, level of interest in the sorority, and academic achievement. of course they want people who are going to fit in because otherwise those new members will hate it & drop out.
