+301 If you think about it the United States is really an continuation of Rome, We use their government, their healthcare, their later religion, their education, and 70 % of our language is Latin, amirite?

The saddest part of this being so true is that it also means we're gonna crash =( they did in 492, maybe we'll go down before 2012 when everyone else follows.

do u really think the world is gonna end? very ignorant...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

HAHAHA no. I don't really think the world is gonna end, equally ignorant...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I dont see 2012 as an end, but possibly a change that should happen

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Haha that's a way to think of it xD

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Don't you mean "very stupid"? It feels like people are using the term "ignorant" too much when it doesn't even fit very well.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

A lot of languages are derived from latin

by Anonymous 13 years ago

We actually don't use their government. They were a pure Democracy and we are a Republic :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I was just gonna say that, but you got here first, you lucky duck.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Rome was a rebublic, Athens was a democracy.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh, that's right. My bad :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Since when is English your language? The clue's in the name.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

English can't be based that much in Latin... and yeah, you guys are going down, not anytime soon though.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

A couple of the founding fathers looked at Rome as an example and based things off of it, there are a lot of similarities, just not the thing you decided to compare. If you knew a bit more about ancient rome and america you'd actually be able to make a good post... You shot a little left of the target here though

Just thought I'd point out that English is primarily a Germanic language. It does have Latin elements, but it's not actually a Romantic language, just derivative of it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

First of all Rome WAS a Republic the Greeks were Democracy and 70% of English is derived from Latin. Just because it isn't a romance language doesn't mean it isn't derived from Latin. Are language is primarily from the Saxons which borrowed words from Latin when they were under Roman control

English is a smooth blend of awkward sounds and different words from many language. It is 90% monkey when spoke by Americans. Difference with America and Rome? Rome still has towers standing. Although they have similarities, most things can be linked if you try. We have bits of DNA linked to grass. No real point made. 2012 is nothing, at all. Nothing major. Comments on that are retarded.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

There was no reason for you to bash Americans like that.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm going to pretend that comment wasn't made because it is bullshit =)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's not 'AN continuation' you fucking moron. The definite article should be 'a' in this case. Go learn some ENGLISH. Oh, I wonder where that derives from?!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

well sorry i made a mistake why don't you go get a life

by Anonymous 13 years ago

AN continuation? Lol.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

by Anonymous 13 years ago
