So is buying an mp3 player just because of the name on it, or anything else. People blow money on names constantly.

not really. electronics are a totally different deal, like imo apple ipods are better than anything else out there.

If you think they're so great, then people probably are buying them for that reason rather than the brand, Apple. But I totally disagree with your opinion on them, in a side note.

Except most people don't buy iPods because they have personally retired everything and think they're the best. The majority of iPods come from a marketing technique Apple has pretty much mastered: bandwagon. The new iPod nano that had a touchscreen and does basically nothing besides play music is sure as hell not worth what they sell out for. But people still buy it because it's an iPod. Take away the brand name and a lot of Apple products would be a flop.

Exactly. People spend loads of money on hollister/abercrombie&fitch/Burberry regular shirts just because of the logo on them, to show people that they're so rich and fancy because of that. But there's a difference when someone buys an actual pretty dress/shirt/purse that deserve the price, instead of just an average T shirt like the ones you can buy at wal-mart, just with the logo.
