+343 Today I was told that intelligence has nothing do with success, it's all about determination. If that's true, then what's the point of being smart if it doesn't make a difference? Amirite?

It's a mixture of both.

No, it's true. There are kids who are dumb as fuck in my higher level classes and that's because they're parents will disown them if they get a B+, so they retain as much information as they can and spit it back out because they think that's what being smart is.

I know a girl like that she try's to get good grades really hard, she studies and/or works non-stop, her grades are barely in the 60% range, her parents ground her for every bad grade. I hate to say it but she is just dumb. i don't study at all and have an average of 95%. Your success is a mixture of both intelligence and determination, particularly with school grades.

Sure, determination is important if you want to be successful, but you still have to be "smart enough."

yea but determination means people will offer you better jobs than without determination so in away it is the same thing they probaly wanted the people who don't understand to think they don't have to be smart and those who do feel better so win/win kind of

It all depends on what you believe determines success. If you think that you'll be successful just because you were born talented, then you will less likely be successful. If you believe that determination and effort is responsible for success, then you are more likely to be successful. Assuming that you act according to your point of view.
