People millennia ago in ancient China could memorize whole books. It was necessary, when their emperor decided to destroy all their books on personal beliefs and stuff, but still. NO LIIIFFFFEEEE.

No joke! I feel ya. I can't even sit through a movie anymore. I constantly catch myself messing around on my iPod instead of simply watching the TV. Now that's bad...

That's why you hear about people, even 50 years ago, knowing, like, 7 languages. James Garfield could write in Latin AND Greek at the same time. I know he was ambidexterous, but Latin and Greek are two very different languages.

You're actually exactly right, they've done scientific studies about this. It's not just laptops, it's also TV, iPods, texting, and all the other instant media out there today, but mostly it's the internet. I had to write a paper about it, apparently it's just screwing our educational system over.
