i play trombone so i strive to reach for higher notes but from what i hear the French horn struggles to go down rather than up

I play the French horn, and yes, low notes are indeed harder. Fortunately, they rarely show up.

I play the French horn, and lower notes are no problem for me. I've only been playing for two years, so I'm not the hottest at high notes.

High notes aren't my specialty either, and what low notes do you mean exactly? I think they're called base clef notes or something.

Bass Clef

The high notes are harder for me on French Horn.

Yeah, low notes are easier because you just have to loosen your mouth

Hey Saigot do you post on every music thing lol jkjk but thats cool you play trombone props. I did for awhile also :)

Notes above the staff on Bass clef are nothing. The are low notes on the treble clef. But high notes on a Baritone or a Euphonium is death to your lips

I play trombone and I think high notes are probably the hardest part. It really sucks when a whole song is pretty much all high notes and by the time the song is over my face is almost numb.

Dear band geeks, You think playing high notes on an instrument is hard?? Try singing them. Sincerely, A choir dork.

Anything above high F on a low brass instrument is hard and playing above high Bb for most of a song just makes your face go numb.

Dear choir dorks, Singing high notes isn't nearly as hard as pressing your lips together to the point where they are practically intersecting and trying to force air through them without looking like and idiot, without your face going purple, and without dropping the big metal instrument that has to be held up high at all times. If your in marching band, add the fact that you have to remember your step sizes, step direction, and watch your formation. I really hate when people in choir think its "so hard" to sing high. I can sing plenty high and its really not that difficult. Next time you want to complain, think about what the alternative is like. Sincerely, a marching band geek, and a proud trumpeter
