+73 I find it funny that most religious people are not intelligent enough to come up with a better answer than "Because Jesus loves us" or "Because he is all-powerful" when you question their beliefs, amirite?

by Anonymous 14 years ago

You find it funny, we 'religious people', find it to be the truth. :o That's all I'm saying... and I'm sure at least some people agree with me.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

I find it humorous that you seem to be too ignorant to think about the innumerous arguments that have been made for religion.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

It really is as simple an answer and we know you would just get bored with the whole story. I guess it's as silly an answer as the one you give when asked why you are an atheist, "Because!". :-)

by Anonymous 14 years ago

I tend to agree with you on this. Not all religious people are like that (not all religious people believe in Jesus, by the way) but that is a silly rebuttal. I mean, if that's what you believe, just say that is what you choose to believe and be done with it. I think you should be able to articulate why you do or don't think/do something, but you shouldn't necessarily have to.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

Why do you have to question people about things they believe in? If it gives them hope then you shouldn't want to crush their beliefs. Douchebag ;D

by Anonymous 14 years ago

Good point. Maybe this person really wants to believe but is afraid to seek the truth.

What is the TRUTH?

Believing in religion means believing in something without proof. And religious people don't always understand every aspect about their religion either, but that doesn't mean they can't believe in it. No one really seems to get that some people can believe without seeing. I don't think that having faith automatically means that you aren't intelligent, but as most non-religious people who would post something like this tend to feel they are superior for putting logic above faith, I don't expect you to agree with that. And perhaps I should say.. I find it funny that most non-religious people are not intelligent enough to come up with a better question than "Where's your proof" when they question your beliefs. Although I must say, most people who aren't religious aren't judgmental or rude towards people who believe, just like many who are religious aren't judgmental or rude to those who don't believe. I'm not hurting you by believing, and you aren't hurting me by not.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

that was extremely well said. I'm an atheist and I'm not going out of my way to trample peoples beliefs. as long as people respect the fact that i don't believe, I'll respect that they do. Religion make a lot of people i know, better human beings because they believe being good in nature is right. Which is why i get upset by certain individuals who like to sit outside schools and judge the kids who walk by during lunch and tell them they're going to hell. I know not everyone who has faith is like this, but the ones who act like that, give the rest a bad name which is why most non believers have issues with anyone at all who does believe.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

Thank you. That was nicely said.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

"....most people who aren't religious aren't judgmental or rude towards people who believe..." Then why have the atheist put so much effort into removing the Ten Commandments monument and other ten commandment displays? I would say if you didn't believe in god then it wouldn't scare you enough to get rid of such things. It's only ten simple rules and shouldn't scare anyone.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

(IsaidWhat?): I'm not really sure what you're referring to, I don't think I keep up on all current events as well as I probably should. But I'm sure whatever it is, it isn't every single atheist fighting to take down things. I'm sure many don't care and aren't bothered by it. Which was the point I was trying to make. Some people are very outgoing and are very much against what other people believe (whether they're against people who are religious or people who are against people who are atheists or agnostic or from a different religion) and we all know that happens. But I think the majority of people are able to have respect for others beliefs and can deal with differences.

There are plenty. The atheist petitioned to rid the schools of saying prayers. Done. They stopped the schools from reciting The Pledge of Allegiance because it had "one nation under god" in it instead of having the choice of just not saying it. Atheists are still fighting to have churches take their crosses down so it is not shown in public. I would say that there are a lot of judgemental atheist out there.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

(IsaidWhat?): I think anything other than a social studies class that teaches about all religions in schools is going to have some issues with anything dealing with God or religion or any of that because of the separation of church and state. Although that's not even in the constitution or anywhere like most people think it is. But whatever. We have freedom of religion, including the freedom to have no religion. I've never heard of any people fighting to make churches take down crosses though.. And I think that you are judging a lot of atheists that aren't that extreme. Just like people judge a lot of Christians (or Muslims..) that aren't as extreme as the few who go out and protest things. You cannot think that it is a large percentage of atheists that want churches to take down crosses. I've never heard of this happening anywhere, is there a link you could show me so that I can understand how you think so many atheists care enough about this?

by Anonymous 14 years ago

I didn't think I was judging, just emphasizing that a large number of atheists aren't as unconcerned about religion as you thought. http://current.com/entertainment/wtf/89637903_atheists-petition-each-state-for-removal-of-all-roadside-crosses-they-are-annoying.htm http://www.alifelessordinary.com/html/archives/2007/12/secular_sunday_x_choose_your_b.php

by Anonymous 14 years ago

I can't find the one for taking them off churches but I heard it once. You know how it is. But just type in atheists against crosses and you should find something.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

(IsaidWhat?): I think that SOME atheists feel this way. But I think saying that a LOT or a LARGE NUMBER of them care that much about things like crosses on the side of a road or saying the pledge in schools or things like that is an exaggeration. I did actually try to find something about people wanting churches to take down crosses, but I wasn't able to find anything at all mentioning anything about that.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

It isn't the object, it is the principle of it. displaying religious objects is promoting religion... If one can display the Ten Commandments , then all of these should be displayed..along with any quotes they have.. http://data.amirite.net/user_images/558182a870826.jpg

seems like the people you know don't read their bibles then

by Anonymous 14 years ago

I'm christian, but if you are gonna try and argue with someone over it, you need a more concrete response than that. Especially people who are hardcore converters.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

the person whose response is THAT isn't worth having an argument with

by Anonymous 14 years ago

Personally I think Jesus loving us is a pretty good reason. Sure, people may want more concrete reasons, but it's pretty much just Christians can say their best friend died for them and they're still in touch.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

@OP or anyone else, I would love to try to answer any questions you have about my beliefs as a Christian! The debate can be as scholarly as you like. And if I start to sound evangelical and you don't like it I am sorry, I just love my savior and I would like other people to experience the joy that I have experienced! :)

you don't have to say it,, your disdain for atheists says it all.. LMAO It is there for all to see.. you people are as easy to read as a 1st grade book..

by Anonymous 8 years ago
