+161 When you are a freshman in high school, there is no reason to to be worrying about college. You should be enjoying your high school years. amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

If you want to get into a really good school, Freshman year is the year to start worrying.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Not really. I didn't start looking at what colleges I wanted to go to until the end of sophomore year. As long as you keep your grades up, you shouldn't worry about it that early on.

I'm talking about Ivy level schools. If you look at people who get accepted into those schools, they have the same EC's regular people have throughout their whole high school career.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Tell that to the administration. They were pressuring us to start going to college fairs in 7th grade!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I went on a field trip to a college fair in 6th grade. -__- We got the weirdest looks, and the people at booths didn't give a crap about us.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

At my school, the grades we make freshman year are 33% of our entire transcript, so yeah, the freshmen do kinda need to be worrying.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

What is there to worry about, really? You either do your work and get good grades or smoke pot and skip class and fail. There's not really much to worry about.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I guess I'm speaking for myself here, but I was worried that I would get awful grades and then the college of my choice would see those awful grades, and I wouldn't get in.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Perhaps it was aimed at the students who strive to get into ivy league schools and need to be a valedictorian or runner up. Those kids all took AP and honor classes even freshman year.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

There's smart kids that smoke weed; honor roll.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Not if you're Asian...

This post isn't saying blow off school and get good grades because it doesn't matter, it's simply saying freshmen don't need to be freaking out about what their major will be or what schools they're looking at.

well said (:

I took a writing class at the local community college after shcool my freshman year and worked my ass of in all my classes.

*off

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Good for you. no sarcasm btw.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I've had my top three colleges picked out since before 8th grade (though I did change on of them). I'm going to be worrying about college until I get in.

freak

I go to a magnet school. My friends can tell me that they spent the day looking at colleges online, and it's perfectly normal. So thanks for the name calling.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No offense but you sound obnoxiously pretentious..

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Nope, I'm just a nerd. How does worrying about what college you're going to go to translate into pretentious?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The way I see it is that you only have one childhood. Don't get me wrong it's really important to do good in school. I went to a really competetive high school and was in mostly honors/AP's all 4 years, but I didn't really start visiting colleges and such until the end of my junior year. Enjoy highschool while it lasts (:

When did I say that I didn't have fun doing school work? I like getting A's, it makes me feel good about myself and I enjoy school. Also, in reply to your last comment (I forgot to add this), saying no offense does nothing but make someone sound annoying. It's like, "Hey, I'm about to insult you, but don't get mad or anything, because these two words are totally going to chance the meaning of this insult to something nice."

Stoner

I've never done drugs in my life

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Reread your comment. Besides, you went anon just to insult someone? Coward.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

nah and my comment makes sense

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Sure, you may want to just get through high school with A's and B's - good enough to get into an okay college. There's nothing wrong with that. However, you're talking to someone who strives to become valedictorian of their class. Nothing wrong with that. Maybe they want to use their potential to its maximum capacity.

I started freaking about grades for college my eighth grade year and I already started looking at schools.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I've known that I wanted to get into UCLA since sixth grade. I've worked my ass off since I made up my mind.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I've always been told that colleges don't pay much attention to freshman year. As long as you don't do really badly for no visible reason, you should be fine.
