When you're writing the word "Together," you mentally pronounce "To, Get, Her", amirite?
by Anonymous13 years ago
And I thought I was the only one...
by Anonymous13 years ago
I say "geth" instead of "get"
by Anonymous13 years ago
:) We learned that in 1st grade and I still sticks... XD

?
by Anonymous13 years ago
?? @661324 (Anonymous): I don't need a way to remember how to spell it.. We learned it in first grade and back then I did it so much that it just stuck.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I got that you learned it in 1st grade, but when you said, "I still sticks" what does that mean?
by Anonymous13 years ago
Oh crap! I didn't notice the typo haha! I meant to say *it still sticks. Wow I do that a lot. :/
by Anonymous13 years ago
You mean it's still stuck? Haha okay, that makes more sense
by Anonymous13 years ago
hahaha yeahhh my bad... I sound like an idiot but oh well. :b
by Anonymous13 years ago
Yeah it's only the internet.... Or is it?
by Anonymous13 years ago
no but for tomorrow i always say "tom, or, row"
by Anonymous13 years ago
I do this and it annoys me so much for some reason...
by Anonymous13 years ago
Yes! And sometimes I think, 'Tog-ether'.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I never did, but i will now, thank you.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I will now
by Anonymous13 years ago
I've never done this! Just doesn't sound right in my head when I mentally pronounce it... sounds so awkward, idk.
by Anonymous13 years ago
No no, the point isn't to pronounce it like this, it's to help spell it. :P
Like how many people say "Wed-nes-day" in their head when spelling out Wednesday.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I've never had any trouble spelling together or Wednesday. I suppose that's why I have never done that.
Also, I know you don't PRONOUNCE it like this; I thought OP said MENTALLY pronounce. When I mentally pronounce, "To, Get, Her," it just sounds awkward in my head. I know the point isn't that it's awkward to mentally pronounce. :P
by Anonymous13 years ago
Never? Not even in elementary school? That's when I learned it, so it's just kind of became automatic. I'd have to consciously stop myself from doing it. It's not like I still have difficulty spelling it, it's just that it's become so ingrained that I don't even really think about it anymore.
Do you use any mnemonic devices for anything at all?
by Anonymous13 years ago
Well, of course like for other subjects such as math or history. I STILL even use Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally. xP Everyone uses mnemonic devices for one thing or another. It's just that I've never had a problem with spelling as a younger child so I've never needed to have a mnemonic device for that ingrained into my cranium. :P
by Anonymous13 years ago
I got you. :) I never used Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally haha I simply just said PEMDAS... Haha and also I use one for psychology for remembering lists in general, it's pretty cool. :D
by Anonymous13 years ago
Ah, after reading your comment I get what Smockers was saying before. I usually don't need PEMDAS, I just kind of instinctively know the order of operations. It must be the same way for him or her with spelling.
It's really weird that I use mnemonics in English, my best subject, but rarely need them in Math, my worst subject. How odd.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Oh I know. Math is my best subject by far but I still use PEMDAS for some reason haha. :)
by Anonymous13 years ago
You is gifted, son. I can approve of that.
by Anonymous13 years ago
you need a way to remember how to spell together?
omg
by Anonymous13 years ago
I actually think that it's so cute that "together" is made up of "to get her"
by Anonymous13 years ago
I had 'Together' as a spelling word in 2nd grade and I figured it out by myself to say 'To Get Her'. I bragged to all the other kids how awesome I was. I thought I was the shizz. (Sometimes I still do. O.o)
by Anonymous13 years ago
I don't say that because I passed the first grade
by Anonymous13 years ago
I passed first grade. :) It's not like I NEED it to be able to spell it, it just kinda happens in my head because back in elementry school they practically pounded that kinda stuff into our heads. :b
