+545 I'm probably going to get a lot of 'No ways' but we're always hearing about how young children are in poverty and are poor...why don't they just stop having babies? Like really, if your life is bad enough, adding another child into it will just make things worse, amirite?

You forgot the fact that sex is addictive, and these people don't usually bother with condoms or birth control.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Lol masturbation

by Anonymous 13 years ago

And also, most of them get raped.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

By who?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

First: if they are poor they probably can't afford birthcontrol second: giving them up for adoption isn't always the answer seeing as most orphanages live in poverty too. They're only provided the barest necessities and third: when was the last time someone you knew adopted a child anyway? Most of them just coast through the system and are released to fend for themselves at 18

If they can't afford any form of contraception, they should just not have sex. If they can't not have sex, some clinics give birth control away. Or, y'know, they can just spend a few bucks on condoms.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

they can't just spend a few bucks on condoms if they can't afford food!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Then they could just stop having sex. It's not an extremely difficult concept.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

EXACTLY!!!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You're saying that people should give up sex all together because they can't afford it? That must cross some sort of moral boundary.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

So? I can't afford Disneyworld, so I don't go. We aren't entitled to everything we want. You don't NEED sex.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's true. I agree with you, but in our society you could never get the general population to agree to it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Birth control is free to anyone who gets off their butts and walks into a planned parenthood (assuming they're in the US), and people do not need to have sex. Perhaps they should be less worried about luxuries, such as sex, and more worried about necessities, such as work.

A lot of poor people in poor countries live on farms or work jobs that require a lot of man power. They have children to keep the farm running so they can survive. Also, it's hard to afford birthcontrol if you can't afford food.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

This is a really old post, but they can't afford food because they decided to not get birth control, which is cheaper in the long run.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I agree; there are many places where you can actually get birth control for free. If you can't afford birth control then how in the hell can you afford children?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No! We need more kids! I love kids!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

A lot of people in poor countries have a lot of kids on purpose. That way there is a greater chance of one of them surviving and being able to take care of the parents when they get old and have no way of getting food/ making money... If you want to fix the problem of so many children being born into poverty, you have to decrease child mortality rates and increase the income of families.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

In the good ole us of a more children means more food stamps and welfare! Just sayin'...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

There are religions that ban the use of contraception. And you can just tell them not to have sex either.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Why not?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

*cant

Many people who live in poverty aren't educated (eg Africa). It would be simple to just stop having children but often they don't know about safe sex, and contraceptions aren't available because they live in rural areas. Even more often people get raped and don't have access to safe and clean abortions, or they don't even realise they are pregnant until it is very late in their pregnancy. Also, many children living in poverty are orphans, so adoption is rare. The REAL solution to poverty is education.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ignoring the rape aspect, no matter how uneducated you are, EVERY culture knows sex leads to babies.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They should just stop having sex, or use protection. If they can't afford protection, then they should stop having sex. If they can't stop having sex, many clinics give birth control, or you can just use a few bucks to buy condoms. However, the government shouldn't keep giving more and more welfare and food stamps to people who can't keep it in their pants/close their legs. It's not fair to the tax payers [most, of which, are on their last dime already]

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I have never understood this concept. It's like having a broken back and deciding to also carry a backpack full of bricks.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

A lot of these people don't have access/can't afford birth control. Many would not be educated enough to even know of birth control and many are raped. That's why many also have AID's. Man, the ignorance of people.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Its not like they need to have sex...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yea but you can't just tell people not to have sex and besides MANY OF THEM WERE RAPED!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

just do blowjobs

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Having children is a right, and sometimes can give purpose to the life of someone whose life might otherwise seem meaningless, especially if they live in poverty. History is riddles with parents working so that their children can have better lives. If you have no kids, and live in poverty, you have nothing to live for, no motivation to get yourself out of the dumps. If you have kids, it gives you a reason to change yourself, or change your environment.
