+260 Christianity isn't about trying very hard to be perfect. It's about realizing you can't and letting God take over, amirite?

exactly (=

by Anonymous 14 years ago

true. but thats not an easy thing to do..you want to try to fix it yourself before you ask him to step in right?

by Anonymous 14 years ago

Nope, we can't in our ability fix ourselves.

And occasionally, telling the nonbelievers and sinners how much of a piece of shit they are and how they don't deserve to live in the USA, or live at all. Religion brings all kinds of people together, doesn't it? Christianity should consider making its membership exclusive. Keep out the intolerant buttholes.

No one is telling you to get out of the U.S.A. I apologize on behalf of any Christian who may have said that to you. That is not true Christian behavior. If anything, Christians should include. We WANT you to find Jesus and let him in your heart. So if you have felt left out, this is me saying that you're not. Come join us. Find out what it's all really about.

I used to be Christian. It was really just all about fearing that you might go to Hell. Not worth it. Don't try to convert me though, thanks.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm sorry you had that experience. For me, being a Christian is about so much more than weather I go to hell or not. I could sit here and explain it to you, but I have a feeling you won't care anyways, so... Just because something doesn't work out for you the first time doesn't mean that you should give up on it. Try it again, just do something different. I just wanted to let you know that no Christian should purposely exclude you.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't want to try again. I've gathered enough information for me to know that the Christian deity doesn't exist. But only the Christian deity. Other gods or just a god in general I have no idea. Christianity should purposefully exclude me if I'm an asshole.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

What information have you gathered that has led you to such a final conclusion?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The Bible just has too many hypocrisies and fallacies and contradictions to really be believable. It's really that simple. A god may exist and I realize that. But I certainly don't agree that it's the Christian god.

amen. we are not called to even tell others that they are not perfect. we are called to show EVERYONE love. through that love, they will want to know God. He will do the rest :)

a Galatians 5:6 (b) James 2:24 (c) James 2:26

by Anonymous 12 years ago

How is that relevant?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

We do need to try as hard as possible to be good moral human beings otherwise we won't be saved. These verses prove that

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yea but we can only do that through the help of God, like OP said

by Anonymous 12 years ago

We try to be as good as possible, but not perfect.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

We can only do our best. I just hate it when people think it doesn't matter what they do, they'll be saved either way. You can't cheat God...it doesn't work like that

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Oh, I completely agree. I've actually heard someone say that it doesn't matter what they do because they've been baptized so now they're saved. Like have you ever even been to church?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I thought it was about ruining the lives of everyone who isn't straight, white, male, and christian.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Interesting how this post was not Christianity trying to attack a group of people but rather someone trying to explain his views and yet people still come to attack Christianity. I think its fair if you wanted to state why you believe Christianity is an illogical belief, but (not meaning to offend, just stating my opinion as fairly as I can manage) I feel like your comment was a little uncalled for.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

(It was a joke)

by Anonymous 12 years ago

understood.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I can't seem to understand what you mean with ‘letting him take over'! Isn't the whole idea is that we try to be as perfect as possible by adopting the attributes of God like loving or being generous, so that we do good; redeem the original and be worthy of heaven? I know perfection is exclusive to God and you can't possibly reach it

by Anonymous 12 years ago

But you just try to be as perfect as a human can ever possible be?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't think being a Christian is about trying to be perfect. It's about trying to act like Jesus in little ways everyday.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't get this at all. Isn't christianity supposed to be about god giving you free will so you should be the best person you can be. If you let God take over there's absolutely no merit to the religion. You should try to strive to be a good person no matter what, regardless of religion. And you should try to be a good person even if there is no God that is forcing you to.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Religion is crap. All it does is get your hopes up by telling you that if you talk to your imaginary friend/s everything will be just fine.
