+620 The movie is only better than the book if you're too lazy to read it. amirite?

For the most part, but it really depends on the book.

I beg to differ, the hunt for red October was a much better movie than it was a book. So yes it does depend on the book lol

I think the movie A Clockwork orange was better than the book, which I have, indeed, read. The film had this dark humor to it whereas the book just made me want to throw myself in a river.

I thought Shrek the movie was a tad bit better than the book. But I'm biased, I'm an Ogre. (We're like onions, you know)

A very select few movies manage to be better than the book. More importantly, I hate how this post vaguely implies that literature is a better art form than cinema, and that a movie couldn't reach the artistic grandeur that a book could.

I thought the movie of the time travellors wife was ok. Then i read the book, which was just awful. Also i prefer the twillight movies because they cut out most of the book :) I think it does depend on what came first. If it was originally a movie, such as Jaws or ET, then the movie would be better than the book

All true. I work in cinema and literature. I love both. All I'm really saying is that most of the time people say 'well the movie was better" or even just as good and then they refuse to read it. I'm more making a comment on how you can't choose A or B if you've only ever seen B. but that post wouldn't be nearly as witty sounding :)
