a Vermonter ( we don't really pronounce our T's) and proud of it!

No and yes. If we heard their thoughts, then it would be an accent, but since that's how they speak everyday of their lives it's not an accent to them. (plus, I'm assuming you're american so it's not like they suddenly start thinking in american accents haha)

by Anonymous 14 years ago

But then why do they loose their accent when they sing?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

some singers intentionally try to lose their accent. others, if they moved to america, gradually lose it

by Anonymous 12 years ago

British people, and in fact some Americans sing (especially pop songs) in an accent called 'mid-atlantic' which is a cross between American and British. :)

Do Americans think in cheeseburgers?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Do British think in fish 'n chips?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Wow.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

What the hell? People think in their own accents.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I prefer to think in an uptight Scandinavian accent.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well, how else are they going to think?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well, I personally have different personas for different thoughts, so I think in a variety of accents.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

People don't think in languages, it's just almost immediately translated into words for when we need it. That's why you can think a word but not be able to remember what it actually is.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Pretty sure I read something like this on MLIA...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Things like this make it hard for me not to think of all Americans as complete idiots.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well we wouldn't think in American accents...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Do Italians think in Italian? Do the French think in French? Do Spanish speakers think in Spanish? Do the Chinese think in Chinese? Do Japanese people think in Japanese? OBVIOUSLY. EVERYONE THINKS IN "AMERICAN" No actually, please google logic and stop making all Americans look like idiots.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Actually, oddly enough, I'm Australian but I sometimes think in Chinese because there are some adjectives in Chinese where a direct translation to English does not exist, and the Chinese word fits better to what I'm trying to describe, so the thought pops into my head in Chinese, then I have to figure out what I'm really trying to say in English...even though English is still well and truly my first language.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Oh well, I wasn't really counting those who speak more than 1 language. The point I was trying to make was that the OP is a moron.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Hehe yes, I concur! :)

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well, British people don't really have an accent seeing as how it's our language...so technically no ;)

by Anonymous 12 years ago

How the FUCK am I supposed to answer this? d Stupid post.
