Yeah, but we all have one friend that misses school for 5 days if they have a runny nose, amirite?

that person was generally me, but last year (2010) I had the flu and decided fuck it and went to go school anyway, 3 days later, still not better, went to the doctor got told i had swine flu. My school was shut down for 2 weeks...

That's exactly why I'm always out sick. ALL of my friends have parents that FORCE them to go to school sick all the time. Then they spread whatever it is they have, I get it, and I miss school. Then they get upset when I'm "always missing school/always sick." IT'S THEIR OWN EFFING FAULT.

My parents send me to school and say I can come home if the nurse says it's ok. This one time I could barely stand, I was freezing, and I couldn't keep my eyes open. I went to the nurse and she touched my forehead and started freaking out by how high my fever was. How did my parents miss the fact that I was hotter than a radiator?

My parents never let me stay home when I was sick. The only time I got to stay home was when I had a fever or I puked.

I go to school if it's something minor, like a cold. More people would stay home when they're sick if teachers didn't assign SO much homework/if they didn't have so much work to make-up. One time, I was super sick and I was out for just a day, but I had to make up 2 tests and a quiz.

That is why I stayed home today, on the first day of school from the break. Now I'm going to get people asking me if I forgot what day it was.

In theory, great idea. But, in practice...get used to it. Once you enter the workaday world, you may not GET sick days. I've dragged myself to work with pneumonia because I didn't have a sick day left....and I needed the job. Get used to it now, it's the way it's gonna be for your adult life.
