+338 It would be cool if we could choose our own names, and instead the birth certificate bearing our name, it just says "To Be Announced", amirite?

There would be a lot more people named Superman, then.

12 yr old that loves xbox will be called pwnyou69

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No. I know a guy whose parents let their kids name themselves and one is named rainbow something, and the other is qw26qqqas.

That's precisely how they do it in some traditional Japanese villages. Just kidding, but doesn't that sound like something that could be true?

you'd change your name like every year until you'd settle on a good one when you're grown up, but what's the point of that if you can already choose your name at 18? you need something to be called by through school

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No because like Anon said we'd be constantly changing our name, especially as kids. Can you imagine?: "Hey Sarah!" "Nahhh the name's Ashley now." So confusing.

I said cool, not rational or practical.

Peekaboo Street's parents let her name herself.

I'm actually happy with the name I was given, but it would be neat to see what people would end up naming themselves.

While it wouldn't be very practical, it would help to correct such embarassments as having the same name as a hurricane or, in my case, accidentially being named for the WITCH in my mother's favorite romance novel, not the princess as intended.

Well, there's actually nothing that says you can't change your name. Either legally, or just by going by a different name (without filling out all the legal paperwork). In the 2nd instance, many legal forms have an "also known as" area.
