+405 Why do some people feel the need to half-heartedly push the door as you're holding it open for them? No, no really, I promise, I'm not going to let it slam into your face as you're walking through. I'm holding it open for a reason, amirite?

Idiosyncrasy/habit? I understand what you're saying but I unfortunately have a tendency to do this and I don't know why.

I do that as a way to express my guilt of going through the door. I either stare at the floor and mutter something that they'll hopefully interpret as a "thank you" or halfheartedly push the door while giving them a "D:" face. I am not a people person.
