I really don't see why. If they could fly they wouldn't be domesticated pets and with the common cat personality and the ability to fly we would probably rarely see them. Also due to their size they wouldn't live in populated areas. Assuming they that they were able to keep their "cat shape" all this time their wingspan would have to be huge to get them off the ground. They're not exactly aerodynamic. So unless the point of your post was that the world would suck because we couldn't have cats as pets I really don't see how the world would be any worse.
