The people who want weed legalized are usually the same people who don't show up to school or don't do so well. The health effects may not be as bad as smoking, but there are definitely bigger social aspects/peer pressure to smoking weed compared to smoking cigarettes. amirite?

There are many hardworking and successful people that smoke marijuana regularly. There are also many people that dont smoke marijuana who would like to see it legalized. There are also people that smoke weed and get really good grades. Screw stereotypes.

Not stereotypes. I use my eyes. 99% of the kids who smoke weed in my area do terrible in school. No, it's not because they are addicted, they abuse it. They think 'oh, let's have some fun and smoke weed' and so they forget about school. You're examples are vague. I'm willing to bet that the majority of people who get good grades don't smoke weed. there has been studies about the effects of marijuana on a person's body. it doesn't "kill" your brain cells contrary to popular belief. it is NOT addictive unlike cigarettes. and no one has died from smoking weed (hundreds of people die from smoking cigarettes every year). i understand your opinion on this but i think that you shouldn't generalize people. it's probably because the weeders you know are abusive and are way in over their heads. but that's THEIR way of taking it, not everyone else's. just saying.

I smoke weed am I am on the deans list, I am a pretty good writer. I knew kids in my school that were fucking geniuses and they would get high before tests (i wont even go to school high). It is all about how the individual acts, if someone smokes weed and they become a fuck up-then its on that person not weed. weed is the scapegoat here. It so easy to get high and do your shit you need to do to be successful. Not everyone gets all lazy when they smoke. I have watched my BF get high and the proceed to clean his entire room, vacuuming included.... I know quite a few people who don't care about the legalization of marijuana, as long as it has the age limit, get taxed, can't be smoked in public places, etc. etc. There are some health benefits if you're in excruciating pain, and it's not AS BAD as alcohol or tobacco. It's not exactly good, but it's not bad. I haven't, don't, and won't smoke it, but I have no problem with it being legalized. Also, if it's legalized, we can have fewer cops looking for pot dealers to focus on bigger issues, and we can get more tax for it

Thanks haha yeah I agree with everything your saying pretty much. A friend of mine got denied a great job because of stuff on his record, and it sucks because he is a good hard working individual. Having marijuana regulated would protect responsible users from the bad stigma. I am pretty sure it wold protect people from drug tests at work too. I also saw an article on norml about how drug testing has no real affect in the workplace. The compounds usually detected in marijuana tests are not the psychoactive ones.

I smoke marijuana two or three times a week, and I've been on the honor role for three years, I play two competitive rep sports, and have a very stable relationship with all of my friends, there's no fighting, arguing or anything. The kids who smoke all day and do shit in school, if you can remember, probably did shit in school before they started using drugs. I graduated this past May from my school with honors. I never missed school because of weed, went to classes high on very regular cases and didn't fuck up. I now have a stable, well-paying job. Saying that potheads are lazy or screw up is like if I said "All black people live in the ghettos and do drugs" or " All white people are hillbilly, sister-fuckers and live in the boonies". Just because that's what you SEE doesn't make it TRUE. Weed should be legalized for so many reasons: safety, taxes from the regulated product, health benefits. Show me someone who got cancer or got hurt because of weed. And not from gang violence/drug deals because that's something that won't be there if it's legalized.

The reason most non-pot smokers want it legalized is because it will prevent gangs who sell drugs. If it's not illegal, it's easy to get which means all those gangs will be out of buisness. The only reason I think it should be legalized is to purge unnecessary people from the prison systems; too many people are sent to jail for possessing weed, and the illegality of it makes violent organizations get involved in getting it, it's just messy. I heard a story someone told me. They said how their grandfather walked into a store and everyone was buying cigarretes. He told them, "Why you buying cigarretes, you all are going to die someday!" and the people in the store laughed and told him off, but every single person in that store died of lung cancer. They didn't realize how bad smoking was for them back then, they though it was safe, but it turned out to be very bad for their health, but no one knew that. Maybe weed will turn out to be terrible for you, too, but we just don't know it yet.

well, legal or not people are going to smoke pot. There are people now that have been smoking pot for years. Inhaling any kind of smoke is bad for your lungs but marijuana does not have a bunch of chemicals in it that cause cancer. Studies have shown that THC actually controls/prevents certain cancer cells (i am in no way saying that marijuana prevents cancer, just stating the studies) Also there are other ways to consume marijuana besides smoking: vaporizing-you get pure thc and no plant matter , there is no real combustion so its not like smoking it-probly the cleanest way to inhale thc. It can be made into food, it will get you high and provide a high fiber snack rich in omega 3s....yep
