+133 You wonder if Oedipus' mom was a MILF, amirite?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Always imagined her as one. Or maybe Oedipus just likes old women.

or he was a gold digger...

Wasnt he made king because he solved the riddle of the sphinx? So although thats an entertaining thought I dont think he was:P

naww he was part of a prophecy that had to do with killing his father and hooking up with his mom. He was ignorant and didn't know she was his mom until he "opened" his eyes because she killed herself because she found out she had kids with her son... then he stabbed his eyes out.... the whole story has a lot of irony on it.

Oh yeah thats his story, but he became king there by proving wise enough to solve the riddle of the Sphinx which was plaguing the land.

I doubt that he's a gold digger. He was adopted by Polybus and Merope, the king and queen of Corinth.

Who?

Oedipus from the play "Oedipus The King" by Sophocles. It's a really great play, I highly recommend it.

Basically a guy falls in love with his mom.

A guy who falls in love with his mom and fathers children with her *by accident. It's absolutely hilarious.

She probably was. Women in Ancient Greece got married as young as thirteen or fourteen, and if you were 'royalty' like Jocasta you're marriage was arranged when you were barely able to speak. Jocasta could've easily been in her late twenties or early thirties, still in the "prime" of her beauty.

Well, seeing how the sculptures and paintings of women from way back look, I highly doubt it.
