+90 Why do most school's have a no-hat rule? It's not like the hat blocks information from getting to whatever part of the brain it's covering up, amirite?

its because ppl right answers on the roof of their hat and look up on it

not all hats have a bill thingy to write the answers on though...

My school thinks hats are some kind of gang symbol. But then again, they made us stop wearing silly bands for the same reason. Doesnt make much sense to me.

They create a "distraction" to the "learning environment".

For my school, it's the same for hoods and hats, it's because people would have them on during fights, and the cameras can't see who the people are, it's more of a safety issue than a learning issue.

hats could be a gang symbol hoods are for people who'd use it so they are less easy to see, and they may hood up so their face is blocked...and they could steal shit or whatever.

Whatever reason youve been told or made up, the full on reason is from a different time early in the century when all clothes and backpacks were searched as you entered the school every day for weapons and drugs and such. They weren't allowed to search hats because it intruded on religious rights, like the Jewish caps. So schools decided that rather than try to fight religious freedom they would ban hats outright to prevent further illegal or otherwise discrepancies.

I keep imagining students in class with tophats. Our school has a very, very strict uniform. No jewelry, except small, studded earrings, only simple black, brown or blue hair accesories, hair in a neat updo with no loose hair for girls and short hair not touching the collar, ears or two fingers above the brow for boys, no makeup or any other clothing item not in the school uniform.

South African school. Lol. It's the norm.

I think it has to do with respect or something. Wouldn't they always take off their hats in the old days to show respect? So yeah...that's my theory.

My school didn't allow hats, hoods it sunglasses, but really there's no ducking reason that you should wear antic them inside, anyway.

I remember in my elementary school it was because the administration was afraid of lice, but I'm not sure about middle school or beyond. There's actually one teacher in my school who enforces this rule to the extreme. She's the crazy French teacher that literally chased a boy down the hallway to make him remove his cap, and she didn't even know who he was! Very strange rule indeed, now that I think about it.

because they can do fundraisers where people are allowed to wear hats for a day for a certain amount of money.
