-306 Loving a band after hearing one song is like loving an author after reading one series, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

What if the author only wrote one series?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

How is one song equal to a whole series of books? Worst analogy I've ever heard.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

JK Rowling, anyone?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

exactly what I was thinking...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Stephenie Meyer?! :D ... Just kidding...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

What if the author doesn't write series to begin with?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

what the hell is it with all these what if's?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Basically, this analogy would have worked better if you had said "one book" instead of "one series."

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It would have worked better, but still wouldn't be a good analogy. Reading a whole book, and listening to a 3 minute song are very different.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You are right, there.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

if all of you sons of bitches think you could write a better post, then by all means, hop off my sack and do it

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I did hun. A mod suggested it for a POTD

by Anonymous 12 years ago

is that why you disagreed with your own, or is my computer weird?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

(ASWCC):"what the hell is it with all these what if's?" then you go on to start your reply with "if". . .

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You're just mad because you can't defend yourself.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

And what's your point? It only takes one song to know if you like them or not. And chances are if you really love the song.. You really love the band too.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

More like one chapter...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Just like how saying you like an actor only after seeing the side of their penis in a sex tape is like saying you like a TV show after only seeing a season of it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

if they're the kid of person that makes sex tapes then i probably wouldn't like them anyway

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'd say it's more like loving an author after reading a single chapter. I'd compare a series to hearing a delux version of an album (the original being more comparable to just one book), as well as both live and acoustic (and possibly demo or remixed) versions of the songs.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

If you read a series by an author you have every right to say you love that author.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It doesn't really seem like authors usually write too many series. It's either one or two series or a bunch of standalone books. A better comparison would be one song=one book or one album=one series.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I think the analogy is perfectly fine, except that 'series' should be 'book'. A lot of authors and bands like to write/perform books/songs with many different feels and textures, so to say. To only get a taste of one slice of it isn't really sufficient to gush over how much you like the author/band.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

you probably the only person who voted yes. Thx

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I can love an author after reading one book. Definitely one series. And I can tell if I like a book by the first chapter, usually.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

And why not? If either of them put out material I enjoyed, why can't I say I like them?
